GURPS is actually a genuinely terrible game for the Vorkosigan Saga, evidenced by the fact that they need THREE DIFFERENT STATBLOCKS to model Miles, and even that isn't all that effective!)

HIGH PRIEST ODOM …is commanding to be around, a he-dyke of nuns and a heeded partner. “Even in the new world you people have made, you need a little fear. It’s a motivator – I’m a motivator.” High Priest Odom, in an ‘apology’ letter to Vhorne Before the revolution, before Vhorne’s takeover of the imperial church, there was Odom. He was Emperor X’s spiritual fist, commanded assassinations on his behalf and instilled fear in the peasants. During the revolution and The Burying, Odom contemplated how he might maintain a slice of his power in the shifting religious landscape of Sapphicworld, and Vhorne’s Keter Chronicle offered him a window of opportunity; he would make a ‘translation’ of it, The Canon. His new text rumbled across Holy Hermitage and reshaped Madre Moley in his image – they encouraged fear of God, service to one’s betters, and faith without question. Now he just snickers to himself, smokes Treaty Bay cigars, fondles devoted nuns and hopes no one holds him accountable for any of his shit. High Priest Odom is an Elf Canonist with a pair of round glasses, pink hair and an ornate imperial cloak. He carries a golden cane in one hand, which he often uses the knob of to idly rub his chest hair and diadem-shaped top surgery scars. He’s always grinning. As a Friend, High Priest Odom lets you in on his ambitions. As a Lover, High Priest Odom makes you one of his nuns or paladins. In sex, High Priest Odom demands you call him daddy. In combat, High Priest Odom pokes with his cane and casts devastating spells. Name: High Priest Odom Pronouns: He/Him/His Quest: Make another Canonist church. Heart: Be seen as a sort of God himself. Lovers: The Curious Male-Nun, Sir Godwhore. Friends: The Generous Sommelier, The Mortalist Soberan. Rivals: Vhorne, Doyenne of Temples. Flirt Folds: Praying before him. Dressing as he pleases. Friend Folds: Sharing a laugh with him, usually at the plight of the naive. Taking a little walk together and discussing how things ought to be… Moves: Bring another Canonist instantaneously to his side. Lean on his cane and laugh. Encourage another to fear God… or fear him. Spells: Xenophosian Hardcast Myrmidarrow Sphere Of Accelerated Prophecy Special: Fire & Brimstone Odom is in good with the cosmic rulekeepers, and thus gets preferential treatment. When High Priest Odom declares a boundary (i.e., do not touch my shoulder or do not enter this town), those who transgress upon it gain a Debt owed to The Golden Hunter. Kink Move: His Love When you Make Some Love or Spend Some Time with High Priest Odom, if you buy into his religious teachings you can replace one of your Subcultures with Canonist. If you are already a Canonist and you Make Some Love or Spend Some Time with High Priest Odom, you learn one of his Spells, or one of any other Canonist’s spells.

Managed to define all the Weapon Techniques you can gain during the campaign, added some other things and finally finished the lightweight Machines Statblocks.

A Paragraph about Weapon Techniques Heartcrusher Adrenaline Surge You reach beyond your limits, spend 3 Actions and 4 Stamina allowing you to make 2 subsequent attacks at enemies within your Heartcrushers Range. Spinning Doom If you use 3 Actions and spend 6 Stamina, you Leverage the reach advantage of your weapon to strike at every target in an 2m extended weapon reach radius around you. Make an attack roll for each creature within your weapons reach. Warrior’s Strike You fuel all your strength into this attack, using 3 Actions and 8 Stamina, you make an attack against an enemy within range. On a hit you topple lightweight machine and make them fall prone, while medium and heavyweight machines become confused for the next 2 round.

Folks who regularly write on commissioned RPG projects: do you feel that your price per word changes based on whether you need to do game design along with the writing (i.e. designing a minigame, making statblocks, etc) vs just writing story, or do you feel your labor is always worth the same?

I'm constantly reminded of that D&D 5e bestiary, that consisted only of cute creatures and their babies.
They had statblocks with multi-attacks and you got XP for murdering them.

Not if your house-run campaign says otherwise! All the legacy monsters are just barred from being reprinted, the statblocks should still be available on Archives of Nethys under the Legacy tab.

thanks, julian, these are good thoughts to keep in mind. in this case it’s moreso that they’re trying to make a player character who should really be an npc (in fact they keep bringing me statblocks of npcs and being like “how can i make this?”)

Hey @riseupcomus.bsky.social , I've got a question for MERP players.
For a game that started at level 1, NPCs had weirdly high levels. In the Cardolan sourcebook's statblocks, even a mere swan is listed as lvl 2! Even a duck is lvl 1! And NPC orcs start at lvl 3.
How did GMs deal with that?
