so like, in ancient times, lots of species were horribly allergic to chocolate! that allergy went away after centuries of evolution. but like, a lot of transformation spells still arent Up To Date, and will just, give you that ancient allergy back. spellbooks usually have warnings for it actually

-as of now it works in the way of learning through spellbooks, lessons and practice. there can be gifted individuals, but i like the idea that magic is a skill that can be taught.
