I had my fill of storm chasing in college, seen tornadoes, and as much as I’ve heard about things are going these days, you’re right, doesn’t really add anything other than chaos to the chaos already unfolding. If these people truly want to due a public service, become a skywarn storm spotter.

SKYWARN is storm chasers. When there's a tornado warning where I live, it's because a SKYWARN spotter physically sighted a tornado. I have stayed ahead of the news by a good 5-10 minutes by just listening to SKYWARN frequencies during storm nets.

The Warning Coordination Meteorologist was FORCED to retire in April. This job includes: informing local officials and media; coordinating, leading, and training volunteers in the Skywarn program; working with emergency management agencies to make sure they can respond effectively.
