And when you DO have these places? They're made for adults or gamified all to hell. Arcades are gone, instead you have barcades, for adults, or arcades like Dave & Busters and the like, and... damn near all the games are for tickets. No arcade fighters, no beat em ups, just skeeball & flappy bird.

I’ve crossed the line into official Sappy Old Lady territory. Watching my nieces & nephews make up a game* & enjoy themselves at the family get together brought tears to my eyes.

*basically skeeball rules using a tech deck & some paper plates. Had to land a “kick flip” to earn points

17. Chuck-E-Cheese was the only place for my family to hold kid's birthdays and you bet skeeball was sidelined because all our money went to The Simpsons Arcade Game. Loved the music and whacky visuals. We only ever beat it a handful of times but it's one of the best beat em ups of that era.
