#sitcoms
Not a big movie watcher these days - mostly see them on planes. Love most of what Taika has done, and quirky &/or atmospheric dramas. TV - gentle British/NZ murder mysteries (Midsomer Murders, Brokenwood etc). WDYTYA, Time Team. Not horror or US sitcoms, most of which I don't find funny
A new question for today #SecretSantaAoNZ
This one might require a few replies to answer, at least for me.

important note: Robert Aldrich’s movie Attack features the leading men of two different popular sitcoms cancelled during CBS’s “rural purge” in ‘71. it also has Jack Palance and Lee Marvin.

...Oh dear. Am I telling myself that the only thing that prevented me from being a heartless monster was that I cared about something.

...I don't want for things to not mean anything to me anymore!

...When we watch family sitcoms, I hold onto my sister and say I love her!

I'm more excited for the Scrubs revival than I'd like to admit.

Scrubs is one of my all-time favorite sitcoms.

They don’t even have any sets based on PlayStation games or sitcoms. Dead game.

"M*A*S*H" had to be one of the few sitcoms to have a budget for explosions.

There were like 100,000 different sitcoms about mixed race families involving various permutations of adoption in the 80s.

Literally the entire point of the Cosby show was to show a successful Black family.
"We DidN't FoRcE DIVErsiTY baCK IN THE dAy WHEn i waS A KId!"

Brother, this episode of Power Rangers starts of talking about Adam having a family reunion and how excited he was to learn more about his roots and then they explain Chinese culture. It has nothing to do with anything else

What if I only watch sitcoms from the 90's and early 2000's?

Give this show a try. It’s bizarre (in the best way), pokes fun at the format of sitcoms, and most of all, is funny. The time travel episode and the one with the delightful little alien Spewy are two of my favorites.

Actually I think this is the alternate universe. The 90s weren't awesome but the sitcoms were good!

Wondering what I could get Trump behind after one meeting. Trump deciding we need to bring back quality sitcoms to NBC Thursdays.

The Munsters and the Addams sitcoms originally aired simultaneous, and beg comparisons. Our comparison tends to the Addams being cooler, suaver, more liberal, and hornier. The Addams are richer and less concerned with fitting in, but they'll also buy a school to keep the teachings to their liking.

A Friday evening chat with a final year creative writing undergrad about sitcoms reveals that they've not heard of a) The Last of the Summer Wine, b) Father Ted, c) Frasier.

In unrelated news, I'm going to the off-licence.

A lot of popular US sitcoms were based off UK Sitcoms and vice versa

UK = US
Steptoe & Son = Sanford & Son
Till Death Us Do Part = All In The Family
Man About The House = Three's Company (including the spinoffs)
Keep It In The Family = Too Close For Comfort
Dear John UK = Dear John US
Man, everything is so bleak, anyone got a fun fact or little bit of trivia they want to share

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I accidentally said The Mary Tyler Moore Show when I posted this originally. YOU try keeping three sitcoms in your head at once, it can't be done. God knows how Lewisohn managed.

No, but I assume you'd get along splendidly💜

(but I do love the occasional "going on two dates at once" trope in sitcoms)
