Shadic the Hedgehog, a Sonic fan character, having fun running through Green Forest (one of my favorite levels from "Sonic Adventure 2"). She isn't as fast as Sonic, so needs some help from a vine to navigate the half pipe paths. A few jungle plants dot the environment, with a tree trunk to the left and mossy-green wood ground curving in fore- and background, with a vine bridge overhead in the distance. Mostly dark shades of greens and browns in the background. Shadic is silver with blue markings, pale tan muzzle and inner ears. Camera view is low and tilted at 45 degrees, looking up at her as she runs with a wide open happy grin, showing pointy little teeth. Clean lines and solid colors, a work-in-progress that will eventually be shaded.

Tricky! 🤭 Soko was in the "crush" phase longer. Shadic had less emotional experience, so was a bit bolder in jumping from like to love. He may appear to love more because he's so protective. She sees their relationship as easy and natural as breathing. ❤️

Shadic has abnormally thick fur for a woman so doesn't need to wear clothes. She also has long quills plus an extra set on her back, which just makes things difficult. She may wear things on occasion, but is usually "nude". Flowy or short clothing may be the lesser evil.

Shadic has been around since at least 2003 (maybe earlier). I'm not really sure where it came from, but I distinctly remember riding on the school bus with a nugget of an idea in mind, and immediately started writing the first pages of her story once I got home.

Shadic likes black coffee. Soko prefers his coffee sweet and creamy, and also likes sweet juices.

For more adult beverages, Shadic would pick a stout or porter. Soko enjoys honey whiskey. Alluded to in a previous drawing, in fact! 🤭

Not so much to start with, but I imagine Shadic and Soko would explore interests to see what sticks, especially since Shadic would be trying a lot of new things for the first time.

He does try to teach her how to use a firearm. That never goes well. 😆

Relationship dynamics chart for Shadic and Soko, weighing their various metrics for behavior and preferences. For example, Shadic is more chill while Soko is off-the-chart protective. Includes touch preference chart (Shadic enjoys touch on her face, head, and waist, not on chest or feet; Soko prefers touch on his arms and chest, but not his fluffy ears). Additional charts show Soko is more attached, and Shadic has a higher libido. Neither care for receiving gifts, but they both appreciate quality time together.

Profile pictures for Shadic the Hedgehog and Soko the Hedgehog, both Sonic the Hedgehog fan characters. Chest-up face views only, clean lines with color, no shading. Shadic (left) has a sweet expression and a little smile. Soko (right) looks less amused and more neutral, with a little bit of crossed arms showing. The side-by-side comparison also shows some of the shape differences I try to incorporate between them. For lack of better words, Shadic has a few sharper features, smaller eyes, and a slender build. Soko is overall more rounded with larger eyes that are often (but not always) lidded, and a tall but more muscled build.

Eddie and Anita are brother and sister, children of Rain and Suni.

Soko is an only child.

Shadic doesn't have biological parents, so no siblings. She loosely has a sibling-like vibe with Shadow because of their situational similarities.

I love how unapologetically comfortable Shadic is with herself. She's never fussed over how or why she is. Even though she has abilities that can make her quite strong, she doesn't count herself as more special than anyone else. She has a life and she wants to live it!

Both Shadic and Soko default towards truth, but can and will lie if it's a matter of safety. Soko's better at it, but feels guilt if lying to a loved one.

Shadic doesn't hide it as well so is more likely to be honest. Folks who know her can usually tell

Shadic never had much chance to dream up "types" and "Mr. Right", but wouldn't choose anyone else. So if asked, she'd probably just shrug and point at Soko. XD If she needs space he gives it, but makes a point to never go far. He's been her anchor and by her side through it all.

Shadic likes to swim, so I can see her gravitating to sports involving water. She isn't overly competitive and would just be out having fun.

Soko enjoys target shooting as a solo activity. It's methodical, so he finds it both familar and oddly soothing.

A trope likely fits! 😆 Soko was assigned to a sort of two-way security detail for Shadic. He was the only one to show any sort of concern for her actual well-being, and he very obviously became attached. She grew to trust him, and the rest is history. c:

Honestly? Either Shadic or Soko equally. Soko would be good for quickly and quietly defusing a bad situation. Shadic would be good for lighting the fuse and winning. 😂

In general matters, they both have good hearts and would want to help if able.

Shadic fears loss of control. After an episode where her emotional state was artificially altered for the worse, she can sometimes still slip into a rage when it isn't warranted. She usually catches it, but is deeply afraid of causing someone harm. Again. 😣

I've recently rescued my childhood sketchbooks, and actually flipped through them today! I never thought I would want to keep them, but since starting to create for fun again this year I really, really wanted them back. 🥹 Thankfully they were tucked away in my old dresser. Here are some pics!
(Left) This sketch of Shadic was used as a journal header at some point in my devART days. (Right) Soko sketch from 2007. (Left) Shadic sketch from 2005. It had been colored digitally, probably in Paint Shop Pro. I remember using it as a wallpaper for a long time! XD (Right) This sketch from 2007 was a concept for a teenaged Eddie (Rain and Suni's son). Various Shadic sketches, no date. (Left) A storyboard from 2005 showing Sonic running up to and bouncing off a spring! I think this may have been the year my highschool realized that I was serious about wanting to get into media arts, so they stopped trying to get me to take extra math courses and let me do an online 3D modeling course for a year. :D (Right) Something sappy from my teenage years. XD Modern me liked seeing that I have always appeared to draw Soko tall and Shadic a bit small. It was never an official story plot back in the day, but has always been there. c:

The timing would be well after Shadic's "rage incident" at GUN.

She kisses him first in a sweet little moment. He's stunned stupid for a few beats but returns the sentiment in full. 🥰🤭

Fun fact! Shadic is a big fan of water and a very capable swimmer. Soko can also swim but is more indifferent to it.
