Marine CO₂ removal lacks standardized indicators to quantify carbon removed and environmental impacts. This absence of reliable metrics prevents verification, inhibits investment, and blocks entry into carbon trading systems.

I think the last time the minority party won a fight like this it was maybe the sequestration package under Obama and they ended up catching that car later, it just didn't end up running them over quite as badly as everyone anticipated it would.

YOU SEE THIS CLEARING WE’RE SITTING IN? SOMEONE CLEARED THIS LAND FOR AGRICULTURE A WHILE AGO. ITS ONGOING USE FOR FOOD PRODUCTION EACH YEAR HAS A CARBON COST, BECAUSE IF IT WASN’T PRODUCING FOOD, IT WOULD LOOK LIKE THOSE TREES OVER THERE, WHICH STORE MORE CARBON. THE FOREGONE SEQUESTRATION CAN BE

I'm introduced on page 10 to a new term, metaeugenics. Williams quotes one of their earlier papers to define and then contrast this concept with necropolitics, as this is an internalized collection of beliefs while necropolitics is an external regime/power structure (see Mbembé and Meintjes 2003).

Do you know what’s extremely energy hungry and that you turn on and off? Direct sequestration of carbon dioxide from the air and doing reverse osmosis to turn salt water into fresh water.
The economics are pretty crazy and very different from what we're used to. Electricity won't be "free", delivering it will still be expensive, but they'll be so much more of it than we can use most of the time. Except sometimes there will be a lot less of it than we want, too
We are going to live in a world where the the marginal cost of electricity is very close to zero

It will stand half-finished for decades because no one wants to spend the money to finish it or tear it down, like every military installation still having buildings whose demolition budget was nixed by sequestration 12 years ago.

So why did we bother raising the debt ceiling in March? Schumer’s theory (contra Jeffries) was that we had our most leverage *now* so we couldn’t afford to go out on a limb to block funding the secret police & accepting sequestration *then*

Potential uses for lots of cheap electricity:
1. Large-Scale Water Desalination
2. Vertical Farming
3. Carbon Dioxide Removal/Carbon Sequestration
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

- Tree growth is exponential, so harvesting young trees means we lose out on the higher rates of sequestration achieved by trees in later years.

It enforces this rule by tracking the cumulative effects of new laws on a "PAYGO scorecard". If the scorecard shows a net increase in the deficit, the President must order automatic, across-the-board cuts to certain mandatory spending programs, a process called sequestration.

y'know... that's a really good point, and I hadn't really thought of that. it is, in fact, literally a way to flush money down the drain. I've been holding that one of the necessary features of a production-focused economy is widespread and ongoing destruction or sequestration of capital

More people need to watch this. It's what happens when a pipeline carrying CO2 ruptures. We need these pipelines for any carbon sequestration scheme (CCS, DAC). When the flood of heavy CO2 gas rolls over the landscape it suffocates everything in its path and shuts off car engines, which need oxygen.
Yep! Here's a video of a pipeline rupture demonstration conducted in a controlled testing facility

(the company that posted it deleted this off vimeo VERY VERY quickly)
