#redlining
Fifty year mortgages are just a new redlining vehicle.

There are dozens of ways they can so easily be weaponized the way banks did with reverse redlining and OG redlining.

Actuarial tables. Life expectancies as approval conditions. Prepayment penalties. Variable interest rates. Securitization.

What if we could automate redlining?

My grandma passed away this week - I am learning SO many things I didn't know about her. She was very politically active (Dem state central committee etc) and I just learned she was a redlining volunteer in the 60s- would call landlords/realtors on behalf of Black families to arrange to view homes

It's maybe the least of his sins, but Trump is just the tackiest guy.

He's a mobbed up redlining developer from Queens who desperately craves acceptance from the Manhattan set, but never cared to learn the basics of how to mimic class.

He can't even pull off dictator chic right. He's Temu Saddam.
this looks like a trick daffy duck would put up to get bugs bunny into "the oval office"

Indigenous genocide, slavery, Jim Crow, Japanese internment, McCarthyism, redlining, Vietnam, the war on drugs, DHS, supporting Israel, and now full blown fascism- at what point was the US a force for good?

All the good ever done here was done by oppressed people fighting for their rights.

Ah! So it’s the east coast inbred cousin of Huntington Beach CA. Same history - white flight from greater LA County as ..

Affluent & highly educated: successful Black families overcame redlining discrimination

They just couldn’t handle having a minority who was making more than them as neighbors

🌌 folks we re-invented redlining all over again what are we doing
bro are you fucking kidding me

redlining myself to make the butt, legs, and pedipalps meatier because how tf is she gonna eat people with twiggy proportions

I cannot imagine they are going to do anything but strike deals so that DHS/ICE stay out of Squirrel Hill and rather terrorize Black and brown communities.

And because Pittsburgh has a history up through the 90s, and beyond, of redlining, our neighborhoods are largely segregated.

Redlining. WWII oil booms. Hidden wells in plain sight.
This episode traces the roots of how California’s oil drilling came to shape entire communities.

Learning the dirty history of the Bay Area got me livid, all the redlining and annexing of thriving Black & Brown communities

and yea, I'd like to jump in on the thread but I"m not connected enough. I don't think "rigor" is the right word for "if we taught humanities with the same..." --:> Zaretta Hammond coined the term "cognitive redlining." It's awesome.

We officially unveiled Lena Smith Boulevard! We are no longer honoring Edmund Walton, whose racial covenants fueled redlining and segregation. We honor Lena Olive Smith — Minnesota’s first Black woman attorney, a fearless civil rights leader who fought housing discrimination.

So you know when I call white people in California RACIST it is the worst kind of racism. Imagine living in this diverse rich state and soloing yourself amongst other whites. That is pretty racist. That white flight redlining shit is alive in them.

If you don’t live in a diverse state is harder.

But how was a bank or a mortgage lender supposed to know if negroes were around?

The used color-coded maps of approved neighborhoods. While housing segregation existed before "Redlining," the US GOVERNMENT certified the racist idea that Black people existing devalued home values

Sure but balanced against that they're also 'developing a system that maps the “social neighborhoods” that naturally form on Bluesky' so that they can do digital redlining -- and increasing their use of racist cisnormative "toxicity" ranking. What could possibly go wrong?

Did you think that "redlining" neighborhoods was a long-ago problem? It may be illegal now but the problems it left behind still plague cities, including KC: bit.ly/4omMs0D

The 2028 Republican platform is going to say we should make redlining legal again
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do

Sounds like segregation, redlining, and racist housing covenants (only selling your house to other white people) to me.
