Times change and happy to be proved wrong, but someone who worked on Hinckley Point once explained to me how mini reactors are just a helluva lot cheaper. So more efficient to build a few littl'uns than a big'un.

The Accidental Trailblazers of a New Global Condition
On April 28, 1986, the Soviet news program Vremya made a 14-second announcement about an accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. One of the plant’s nuclear reactors had been damaged, the broadcaster said. Mitigation actions were being taken, aid to those affected was being provided, and a government commission had been formed. The rest of the Soviet Union hummed along, making plans for the upcoming May Day holiday.

Absolutely right.
Anyone who knows anything about the region knows that Saddam had zero nuclear materials because guess who (Israel) destroyed his nuclear reactors in 1981. Google Operation Opera. Bush lied us into Iraq War. Trump is lying on Tariffs.
Why do you get voting for liars and fools.

Now zoom out: Gen. Alexander Haig once said Israel saves the U.S. $15–20 billion per year in military costs by stabilizing the region.

No U.S. troops stationed there. No giant carrier groups needed.

Think of Israel as a self-funding, unsinkable aircraft carrier.

Pressure but high temperature. Something that is walk away safe and you would feel comfortable living over or next to.

In fact something that would be an excellent choice either on the moon or right here on earth.

If only there was something like that......

we need experimental untested home reactors and we need them now

No, it's not @greenpeace.org or @billmckibben.bsky.social, it's #WoodMcKenzie an UK Research Institute

(SMRs) small #nuclear reactors and conventional nuclear are the most expensive energy sources, closely followed by #GAS

#Solar - even + #batteries! - and #wind the cheapest ones

Even the reactions are scripted. Its clear the "reactors" have already seen whatever they are watching, so the reactions are not genuine.

Watched a bunch last night and all of them predicted a reveal before the reveal happened. Now whilst I agree some reveals are easy to predict, but not that easy.

We're not broke. The money is just hoarded away by the owning class.

Plus we have plenty of money to build nuclear reactors and subsidise fossil fuels. We could use that.

The flotillas were civilian operations. If Israel abducts vessels sent directly by the UK then Israel is in a lot of trouble.

Their curvature, their wings, and their shadowed reactors mirrored the ethos of their creators: strength without boasting, power without waste. The Cloaking Device, an achievement that turned even the stars blind, became not merely a weapon of stealth but a philosophy—

Wylfa in North Wales is to be the site of the first 3 new Small Modular Reactors to be built by Rolls Royce. Govt has (finally) announced which site they've picked to launch the product. Thats despite intense US lobbying, from their Ambassador and others, to allow a Westinghouse design.

And don’t watch youtube reactors watching it, either!
I’ve seen a few folks go for the “if you simply must watch that new Harry Potter show just pirate it” and sorry. No. Just no. Just don’t watch it. At all. Ever. Break free of it. It’s time. You’ll be ok. I promise. I know it mattered to you as a kid. Find new things, it’s healthier. Just move on.

The extremely potent greenhouse gas sulfur hexafluoride is used to clean the reactors used in silicon production. One ton of sulfur hexafluoride has a greenhouse effect equivalent to that of 25,000 tons of CO2.
It’s great to see reports that China’s CO2 emissions are flattening.
Yay?

Aren't there enough leaking nuclear reactors in that state already?

I hope I'm not too late but the first person that suggests using AI to maintain nuclear reactors should be drawn and quartered in front of their family because of shit like this, where other instances of AI fuck up in other fields.
a few months ago I said "having generative AI handle absolutely anything with regards to healthcare is a nightmare and should be banned" and a bunch of people made fun of me and called me stupid. anyways,

Today in #ruby and #eventsourcing : test an entire workflow composed of multiple reactors sending messages to each other, all in-memory, and assert the full workflow as the trail of events left behind. No databases hurt in the process.

And offshore wind won't come online for that long anyway (and reactors are 7 years based on Votgile and SMRs are now sub 2 years, the army ones are being mass produced as we speak)

Replace it with 6 new reactors which will provide more jobs that are union both operation and construction
scoop: one of the largest renewable energy projects in the u.s. is quietly getting killed

say goodbye to leading light, the latest casualty of trump’s war on offshore wind

(also means there is essentially no more offshore wind in progress at all for new jersey)

Basically: if it wasn't AI, it would be quantum computing. If it wasn't quantum computing, it would be fusion reactors. If it wasn't fusion reactors, it would be Tulip futures...

AI is just a shiny thing driving the latest market bubble. It doesn't really matter; the money games behind it do.
