Ok, looks like I'll be adding a Quangsheng TK-11 radio to my table. My goal is to see how it compares to the Wouxun UV9D Plus more so than the Radtel 880.
Where the 9D fails is in not having full wideband rx on both A & B, and limited rx range. I'm hoping the 11 fixes both.

For (1), you can get a Baofeng on Amazon, but I'd actually recommend the Radtel RT-630: it's more water-resistant (though I'm not sure I'd trust the IP67 rating), can be charged with USB-C, and is reasonably-affordable. But honestly any cheap radio works; they're all about the same radio quality.

I most recently got the Radtel 470X (£29) and Ailunce HD-1 (DMR). I think the biggest advance has been Air Band and USB-C charging so I can chuck out the dedicated stands. "Magic Voice "is tempting though.
