This week #TidyTuesday explores meteorological data from the UK Met Office. I calculated yearly averages and the overall average for each variable, identified anomalies and created barcode charts to visualize the anomalies, where each bar represents a year."

This week #TidyTuesday explores the World Food Day. I created proportional half circles to represent the percentage of stunted and overweight children under 5 for each available country, and placed them on a map.

This week #TidyTuesday explores EuroLeague Basketball, the premier men’s club basketball competition in Europe. I used a circle packing chart to show each team’s final four appearances and success rate, using size and color to represent these values. #pydytuesday #dataviz

This week #TidyTuesday explores the FIDE Chess Player Ratings. I selected the top 10 male and top 10 female players who saw the biggest jump in ratings and rankings from August to September and then presented them in a table with the great_tables library.

I also gave up on using jupyter notebooks and switched to #quarto! So much easier. (You can't run code line by line in jupyter notebooks, but you CAN in @quarto.org). Enough said.

"Hello #pydytuesday"

I downloaded #Positron, followed the PydyTuesday tutorials (link below) and made my first ever graph in Python!

As a longtime #RStats user, it was fun. I love that I'm good enough that I can understand the tutorials. Past me would be proud.

Mt.Vesuvius Eruption data for this week's #TidyTuesday curated by @libbyheeren.bsky.social !

Learned how to add shading for margin of error by plotting two lines as the upper and lower error bounds, then filling the space between them with an alpha value of 0.45 (to appear sheer)

I have a weekly #tidytuesday #pydytuesday calendar event where my buddies and I get together on zoom to work together for an hour. I set timers to keep us on track and we check in after each, so it's ~30 mins of coding.

5 mins - get data loaded in
10 mins - explore data
15 mins - flesh out one idea
Questions for the #TidyTuesday and #PydyTuesday folks, how do you participate? All by yourself, or with team/lab members? If so, do you work together remotely or do you get together in person?
Thinking about starting something in my lab, so I'm looking for ideas!

Emergence of the different art materials in the MTA art data.
Variations in the material name—such as 'glass mosaic', 'glass mosaics', 'glass/mosaic', etc.—have led to redundant labels.

For those who don’t know, juno is a mind-bendingly good Jupyter notebook implementation for iPad.

It is paid, but it is very, very good. Tinkerstellar by the same developer is an excellent python learning tool too.

Coffee, #tidytuesday, easy (and a cruffin, if you insist)

For my weekly #TidyTuesday #PydyTuesday meeting with friends, many of us devoted the hour to finding data sets we can curate and submit to the TT repo!! I'm trying to compile shark data 🦈 let's see how I do! Others looked at Medicare drug data, spider data, etc! Please join us in submitting!
Hello #dataBS (& especially #TidyTuesday) fam! I'm trying to organize a thing to help me keep TidyTuesday running smoothly, but first I need to get a bit of a runway. Every week I curate a TT dataset, and it's wearing me down. Please see github.com/rfordatascie... for some ways you can help! #RStats

For this week's #TidyTuesday I was interested in public response (critics scores) to Pixar films over time. There was a notable dip in ratings from 2011-14. 🤔
I wonder if this dip was due to the 2008 financial crisis (Pixar films take an avg of 4-6 years to be made).

Used #PydyTuesday to refresh on fuzzy matching! I got #ChatGPT to help me with my func and applying it bc lambda functions really challenge me 😌 I wanted to write a classifier to tell me whether an author's alias was just another spelling of their name or a true pen name #TidyTuesday #databs
