Ko wen-je received strong support from the younger generations. How strong is it? There is a high correlation between the percentage of people voting for Ko and people below 40. The scatter plot shows the relationship between two data. The Pearson correlation result is 0.685 and pvalue is 0.0.

Best moment in the video:
"I'm not gonna define p-values today, forgive me."

Maybe James should.
Not that there aren't any good definitions (e.g. check www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles...).
But presented by James, at least coffee drinkers might understand it better!

Statistical tests, P values, confidence intervals, and power: a guide to misinterpretations
Misinterpretation and abuse of statistical tests, confidence intervals, and statistical power have been decried for decades, yet remain rampant. A key problem is that there are no interpretations of t...

i have a coin flip app shortcut i wrote myself that also records its output

i've done so many sequential tests on it as the records upkeep but it's always resulted in fair coin pvalue #severity

Use `hotspot_gistar()` to find hotspots – places with more points (crimes) than expected by chance. Identifying hotspots is useful because it can help avoid wasting resources responding to random variations in crime.

Those clowns don’t know the difference between evidence based medicine and substandard. What’s a pvalue?

His opinion was a litany of bigotry from a man who openly takes bribes.

Selling you and your wife’s soul for money is your legacy writhe with hate and bigotry!

Non ho visto se c’era un intervallo di confidenza al 95%, ma penso che il pvalue fosse >0.05 perché la febbre non ce l’ho 😂

This conflates the likelihood of the null (the joint probability of observing the data given the null model) with a p value. These are not the same.

Frequentist stats has many problems. The tendency of most people to view a pvalue as a point estimate rather than a tail probability is one if them.

I like the paradigm of things being maladaptive attractor states in dynamic systems. But I don't see why omics isn't/ couldn't be part of studying those states. It just requires analysis more subtle than a pvalue on an enrichment analysis.

Thoughts: The counternull is a lost statistic, that is woefully underused when teaching stats.

Absolutely agree and you started with one of my pet peeves of the random XY distribution that is clearly BS and gets a good R2 or even worse 0.33 but with some damn pValue < 0.05 that gets a random paint splatter in a published paper as biological truth

The more points you have the smaller the pvalue

It's a little odd. I am plotting the log10 of the -log10(pvalue) on the x axis so in this plot the null signal drops off much faster than what we observe in the @gwascatalog.bsky.social
I'm curious if anyone has a hypothesis why the lead SNP p-values would have this distribution.
