Recent advances seem to allow a weirdly flexible approach: not causal “what feature produced this response” but almost psychoanalytic “what is the model thinking about when I ask that question?”
Validating that will be a wicked problem, I know. But everything is a wicked problem these days.

this will get people mad at me but there are a lot of freudian psychoanalytic cycles at work in GDT’s frankenstein that contribute to its success

The psychoanalytic answer is always the right one, and the online "progressives" want to inflict their Lacanian phallus on the feminized Dems, just like the right wing who views American/Western society as feminized and castrating.

I need to sit down and read Oliver Davies and Tim Dean’s “Hatred of Sex.” At this moment in my psychoanalytic career I would definitely appreciate a critique of the (neo)liberal sexual politics of American relationalism and queer theory that draws upon both Ranciere and Laplanche!

🧵 A classic psychoanalytic phenomenon, "fear of breakdown," helps convey why it's essential––if we're to beat back fascism––to understand Trump not as the cause of democracy's destruction but rather as a symptom of it. We are on the edge of the breakdown of democracy, liberals say. Unity, not...

The media sucks, we know, but I’d love to learn how it sucks through a psychoanalytic lens. The neuroses that would lead someone to write this in defense of Cuomo in a paper owned by a billionaire seeking to dismantle the US have to be clinically fascinating.

i've always had an affinity for buddhist ideas from a psychological/psychoanalytic perspective. "suffering is inevitable in the human mind because that shit be making objects out of the creative chaos of the world and expecting permanence therefrom, and one of those objects is yourself" type shit

i sincerely do think a lot of social conflict between people on here has more to do with mythic archetypes and psychoanalytic concepts than people think
like i think that a bunch of people on here think they are some kind of sheriff, which is not exactly the same as being a cop but

It sounds like he’s doing a psychoanalytic argument for Nietzsche at best, and being kind of an edgelord at worst. I feel like Deleuze and Gauttari tried build off that and understand how psyches were shaped by their societies, but Freud just kinda takes them as given

I have barely seen any Tarantino movies, just the Kill Bill ones but perhaps one more

So I know squat, but in psychoanalytic language (something my knowledge is deeper but let’s still call it squat)
there is a structure where a person has problem saying no to themselves ... they need others

As our world becomes increasingly dehumanized and depersonalized, psychoanalysis could offer a path back to our selves, but only if psychoanalytic institutions find ways out of elitism, ideological purity, and white/hetero/cis-hegemony.

Accessible writing opens the door. It extends the reach of psychoanalytic theory to non-analytic clinicians. From there, people can seek out what fits with their interests and taste.
