The Future of Infrastructure is Automated: How to Deploy a WireGuard VPN on Proxmox with OpenTofu
Introduction: The modern IT landscape demands not only robust security solutions like VPNs but also the agility and consistency provided by Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Deploying a WireGuard VPN on a Proxmox virtual environment using OpenTofu represents a powerful convergence of these principles. This guide will walk you through automating the provisioning of a secure, high-performance VPN gateway, transforming a traditionally manual process into a repeatable and version-controlled deployment.

Ended up skipping Proxmox entirely and just directly running Truenas on the mini pc. Kinda wrecked other vm plans but oh well. Can get a better mini pc for that at a later date. Current one is just using an Intel N150, Not a whole lot of wiggle room for VMs even with 16gb of memory.

And a TrueNas VM. This is for storing snapshots of my main nas. Immediantly got ransom crashed during the replication task running. The actual VM was crashing. Turns out its really unstable to try and operate a das via usb passthrough in Proxmox to the TrueNas VM.

Well, been a busy couple days working on the old home network and smart home setup. But, its done. Now, I don't consider myself a total beginner with a homelab, nut I am far from an expert. Finished building a seperate backup nas using a mini pc and a das (direct attached storage) with Proxmox.

@ christopher @ marathon @ gyptazy it's a totally different thing. Proxmox is a virtualization platform - yes, it can run (lxc) containers, but it doesn't compete with Docker or K8s

In our last month's ZFS on Proxmox webinar: ZFS shines when you scale up.
Add drives, boost performance, done. Run it inside the hypervisor and you get local I/O with way lower latency.

Then my top recommendations are:
- NetworkChuck (very entertaining, if you have no idea of what VMs and docker containers are is a good place to start)
- TechHut (has some very well made tutorials on Proxmox and Docker which are also relatively recent)

Gods save me. I'm running head first down the homelab rabbit hole. I managed to get my first Windows 11 VM running in Proxmox to run my writing application since it doesn't work on Linux.

Proxmox host is better since I replaced a switch that was non-managed with a managed one. Now the two nodes that were producing netdev watchdog messages have stopped doing that. No more messages from anything.
Still... one specific node is ejected from corosync every day, the same one node! Arghhhhh

My proxmox cluster is down for the second time.
4 hosts, two with realtek nics. the two realtek nodes start getting netdev watchdog messages, quorum drops to 2 from 4, cluster down.
fixed once, r8168 instead of r8169
Run two days, netdev watchdog again.
I'll put it on hold a bit for my mental health
