This is true! But it's not a shot you can get as prophylaxis unless you work with animals – or had an encounter (I wish it was a standard). So, if y'all got friendly with a driveway racoon or you shooed a bat out of your house, go get a shot!

This is literally my song, man. Two things were produced that year:

-Don't Fear The Reaper (Produced by Bruce Dickenson.)
-Me (Produced by two consenting adults who despite expert training in differing fields, clearly hadn't mastered the use of prophylaxis yet. ( And not Bruce Dickenson, I think))

This year's strains aren't looking good:

The infections have started earlier.
A(H3N2) strains are dominant - and linked to worse outcomes.
A shifted strain (slightly different to vaccines) is also doing the rounds.

michigan is considered endemic for mmr. if you have family in michigan and plan on visiting for thanksgiving, you are recommended to receive an update mmr dose as prophylaxis
You can get your titers checked for the MMR to see if you still have immunity...

but that also costs money if your insurance won't cover it

whereas getting the MMR when you have immunity already, only has the risk of the vaccination the same as if you didn't have immunity (which is low) so

...
Re-up MMR, get vaccinated, and PLEASE people, wear masks.

It's colder, kids are in school sharing germs, we're now inside more than ever, and some viruses are asymptomatic.

Or your immune system is like mine and can't be sick *normally* but can be semi-sick, making it hard to notice.

We don’t know if the hypertension was fluid responsive and transient or severe. I think if severe there is consensus to remove.
The fungal issue: it’s not that e we think he has fungal peritonitis now, just that he is at risk for it.
We looked at the evidence and decided to use fungal prophylaxis…

That was pretty much it! While the medical establishment was wringing hands about how hard this population was to successfully reach, some Sicilian gents shrugged their shoulders and figured it out: if needles are shared, prophylaxis needs to happen at the delivery

No proven therapies that prevent the formation of pathogenic IgA immune complexes.
Glucocorticoids may be used in selected cases after careful evaluation of the risk–benefit profile, preferably at low doses and with appropriate infection prophylaxis.

…NOT write an actual essay, but actually celebrate that PrEP now exists, and that modern antivirals and other meds also mean that an HIV exposure is *no longer* automatically a life sentence to endless, brutal body horror, social ostracism, and a miserable, premature death. SOME THINGS DO IMPROVE! 💖

There should be a lot more attention to hospitals’ perverse, ironic hostility to sick people.

As someone whose hospital experience has run the gamut from perfectly healthy (had to go for prophylaxis) to profoundly disabled, wanted to guess when I got the best care and when the worst?
A plague on every hospital that charges employees and patients for parking. Especially cancer patients. Especially cancer patients getting chemo.

of course once one rises to the high authoritative office of secretary of health, the sole prophylaxis against BECOMING one of those nasty evil Experts onesself is to simply remain judiciously, expressly, and loudly ignorant

it's the only known cure for the disease, of expertise
RFK Jr: We need to stop trusting the experts... Trusting the experts is not a feature of science or democracy, it's a feature of religion and totalitarianism.

"You must NOT donate for at least 4 months if:

You have taken medication to prevent HIV infection ( pre /post exposure prophylaxis , PrEP/ PEP)?"

Ok, isn't that actually freaking insane??

Ie: If you protect yourself from HIV, we dont want your blood.

Thats *bonkers*.

And I thought it’s dangerous to use high dose estradiol in trans women (according to the phobes) doesn’t mean we should get more prevention and prophylaxis (rhetorical question ofc)
Just got a call from a lovely but very nervous Dr, who advised I wouldn't be routinely screened for breast cancer because I'm not indicated as being "biologically female" on the central NHS database and my biology wouldn't indicate I'm at risk.

My records have been altered, which is upsetting.
