It's a pity that there was no way predict that Thanksgiving was coming. But sometimes it's these kind of unforeseeable contingencies that matter for politics.
My read of it (with very incomplete information) is scoring more political points would have required destroying Thanksgiving travel and at least 10 Dem Senators don’t have the stomach for that.

I don’t think she should be dunked on for failing to pass the bar exam, I think she should be dunked on for believing that psychics could accurately predict she would pass a notoriously hard exam without being prepared.

A bit of a contrarian view. Democrats likely won't pay a price for this in the midterms. The American memory is quite short on political machinations. But Republicans are about to learn a central tenet of American politics: You cannot give people a benefit and then take it away.
