Two chloroplast haplogroups are found in Quercus suber with selection detected in chloroplast codon sites. Polymorphism is segregated between the two haplogroups, suggesting that balancing selection preserves them:

I would love analysis of polymorphism and respective energetic stability of different phases. Could work with C allotropes or maybe pure Si zeolite vs.quarz.

How Duffy blood group (FY) polymorphism and age modulate vivax malaria risk at the community level: a population-based retrospective cohort study in the Amazon
CONCLUSIONS: FY polymorphism appears to modulate the rate at which immunity to P. vivax develops in Amazonians, with clear clinical and public health implications.

in c++ land I just use the STL and then some encapsulation and some polymorphism / indirection to make things flexible but I don't ever feel like I need a Visitor pattern or a ConcreteAdapterFactory and so forth

Favor extension over modification.

Modifying existing code to add a new feature to your application is a smell.

Leverage polymorphism, factories, and self-registration to create code that can be extended without modifying any existing code.

In natural populations, a 26-bp indel in the CDCA7α promoter acts as a rheostat, tuning its expression. This polymorphism affects the level of CG methylation and transposon silencing across the entire genome.

Also traits. Sometimes I miss ocaml functors in rust, but in ocaml I always missed all kinds of polymorphism. FCMs were too awkward to use regularly.
