M31, the Andromeda Galaxy, is our closest galactic neighbour. The galaxy has a bright nucleus, spiral arms showing dust lanes, and two satellite galaxies.

NGC 1261 is an ancient globular cluster lying around 53,000 ly from Earth. Containing hundreds of thousands of stars bound tightly by gravity, this cluster is part of the Milky Way’s outer halo, a relic from the early epochs of galactic formation. #astrophotography

NGC 1261 — Ancient Stars in Horologium NGC 1261 is a dense globular cluster located roughly 53,000 light-years away in the southern constellation Horologium. Containing hundreds of thousands of ancient, metal-poor stars, it belongs to the Milky Way’s outer halo — a population of clusters thought to have formed during the early assembly of our Galaxy more than 10 billion years ago. The cluster spans about 50 light-years and exhibits a prominent core rich in evolved red giants and horizontal-branch stars. These low-mass, hydrogen-depleted remnants trace some of the oldest stellar populations still visible today, offering a glimpse into conditions in the early universe. Messier 27, often called the Dumbbell Nebula, is a planetary nebula about 1,360 light-years away in the constellation Vulpecula. It marks the final evolutionary stage of a sun-like star, which has expelled its outer layers after exhausting its nuclear fuel. The exposed core — now a white dwarf with a surface temperature near 85,000 K — energises the surrounding gas, causing it to glow in distinct emission lines. This image maps light emitted by ionised sulphur (S II), hydrogen (H α), and oxygen (O III). The outer filaments trace slower, cooler ejecta rich in sulphur and hydrogen, while the inner lobes shine strongly in oxygen, revealing shock-excited structures expanding at roughly 30 km/s. ついに念願のレモン彗星が撮れました！！

江ノ島では惨敗でしたが、野辺山は暗いので彗星の尾まではっきり写りました。

双眼鏡でも尾がはっきりと見えたのでよかったです。
