Supporting Students with ADHD: Research Shaping Inclusive Teaching in Higher Education
Insightful new research is transforming how students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are supported in higher education. Rebecca Mountfield-Pawlett, PGCE programme lead at Coleg Cambria, has published findings that shed light on both the challenges and strengths of students with ADHD, while offering practical strategies to make academic environments more inclusive. Rebecca, who also teaches Childhood Studies in partnership with Wrexham University and is currently studying for a doctorate in education focusing on literacy, explained that the project developed from her own experiences in the classroom.

In the first year of a 3-year longitudinal study, researchers explored the use of TeachMateAI in The University of Manchester’s (@manchester.ac.uk) Primary PGCE programme.

Trainee teachers used AI critically, creatively, & contextually, not as a shortcut, but as a tool for deeper learning.

Well, private schools are factories for instilling class consciousness in their attendees. It's true enough that state schools are middle class and hierarchical as institutions (as I recall one of the tutors saying at S. Martin's when I was doing my PGCE there in 1991-2)

You'll see from the article that Jennifer was incredibly qualified and experienced to be teaching GSCE languages at a secondary comp (and I don't think she had a PGCE). But to really learn a language thats what you need. Someone who understands the whole subject and area. Someone with experience.

PGCE French in my 20s, learnt Chinese in China in my 30s, MEd in special ed: autism in 40s etc. I tend to think that communication ‘affordances’ are down to the environment (eg facilitative vs non-facilitative) as much as anything. Post-Gove classrooms imv don’t favour the casual, spontaneous,

Nude and Vortex. Some of the Stanground images started as doodles. The PGCE was horrible. I would recommend it to no-one, though the recruitment and retention in teaching is at an all time low. #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #mycottenham #malemodel #nostalgia

This makes me sad, my visit to Sierra Leone inspired me to start my Pgce and this beach was at the time the most amazing beach I had ever been to... Great article for impacts of development and sustainability! 🥹

Full of RAAC and were closed the year I did my PGCE at UEA, sadly I would have loved to have seen them from the inside. I love the Brutalism of Lasdun’s design, although a lot of the teaching wall was covered in scaffolding it still shone through.

Stony Ground. I assume that saying my worst year was the PGCE is a falsehood, in that it overlapped 2 years and was not in fact a full 12 months. This dates from then, 25 years ago! #theferrisfiles #malemodel #drawing #nostalgia #artforsale
