what I think Starmer Labour specifically shows is the utter perversity of governing as if you are in an election

when you have governing majorities, you will be judged in the next election primarily on whether people's lives have gotten better, and that should be your focus not issue messaging

TRUMP: I CANNOT BELIEVE I AM WRITING THIS

The perversity of the situation in respect of the Epstein files is so disturbing on so many levels, that’s bad enough, but this element is one I find particularly egregious.
In order to make light of the abuse of 15 year old girls and the fact they were

and then further, Starmer Labour shows the perversity of using government to consistently raise the salience of your worst issues (immigration) rather than your best issues (economic majoritarianism)

so just in messaging terms what they're doing is insane even putting aside they run the government

The Epstein story will NOT end until Trump is unable to control the narrative. Right now he can use his sycophant DOJ under Bondi to make sure the truth of his perversity never sees light of day....I have zero faith that the GOP will defy him...ever!

You were too distracted to lock the door. There's Dad. Go on. Invite him to join you. You've wanted it. Opportunity knocked. Welcome it.

I think I saw a thread in which people were saying we shouldn’t make fun of Epstein’s spelling, but I want you to know I scrolled right on by. That level of perversity is none of my business.

There's a group of people in the US who routinely levies accusations of perversity, grooming, etc. at their opponents for political gain, and then there's another group who genuinely wants predators to be stopped, removed from positions of authority, and punished.
"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

We say that she was a victim regardless of her age, she is entitled to respect, and you don't excuse the perversity and exploitation of the offender because his victim was a teenager rather than a kindergartener. The gravamen of the offense is the exploitation, not the age.

THIS clearly explasins the perversity of everything Musk.

TBQH, to the previous RT, I am also pretty amazed at the depth and the perversity of it all. And I’m a “yes, TOTAL DEPRAVITY is an obvious truth” type of Calvinist!!!

Way back in my baby gay day, I never thought I'd be happily monogamously married to a man I'd been with for thirty years and shaking my white-haired head at the decadence and perversity of the heterosexual lifestyle.

Not suprised, but still can't get over the perversity of the linguistic choices here: classic NYT passive voice for the headline to excuse the victimizer and then very active voice to blame the victim (with the crime apparently being the 'upending of a political career')
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

The women were the "entertainment" and compromat/blackmail, while financial deals and money laundering were the main event.
As ugly as the perversity was the money dealings and backroom politics were/ are even worse.

But it's impressive to map out ALL the possible perversity, futility, jeopardy options in one piece AND pretend you are offering them in a spirit of irenic helpfulness to the helpless!

Wikipedia:

Tiberius was Roman emperor AD 14-37.

"While Tiberius was in Capri, rumours abounded as to what exactly he was doing there. Suetonius records the rumours of lurid tales of sexual perversity, including graphic depictions of child molestation, cruelty, and most of all his paranoia."

This fic is incredible and does such impressive Kylo characterization through the double challenge of being in Rey's POV and a short wordcount. !! Sexy shame!!!

All the money in the world yet they have to go after young girls. This is the sickness & perversity unlimited wealth brings. Do they not have daughters, sisters, mothers?

Surprisingly relevant to several of my interests. (Among other things, in the late 80s I was in a production of Sexual Perversity in Chicago, which the movie is based on)
An appreciation thread for the many glorious 80s sweaters in the 1986 film "About Last Night" starring Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Elizabeth Perkins and Jim Belushi. 🧵

Kicking off the cozy with Demi's long layered-look fair isle V-neck, in soft shades of gray.

3/ "These vehicles [like Ford F-150 EV] are for high-end swells to display themselves in. They aren’t designed to rack up productive electric mileage in place of productive gasoline mileage. These cars are net insults to the climate and lose billions—the very definition of policy perversity."

so true. if you did something bad, you have to make sure you maintain at least that level of perversity. otherwise you might be hypocritical.
And for those still going on about drug boat strikes - I wish you’d cared this much about Afghanistan. I don’t love the use of the military to kill drug runners, but it’s no worse than you’ve allowed for three decades. It’s a bit late for moral hazard pearl clutching now.

I usually don't quote-skeet smaller accounts than mine (so please don't pile on here), but I do need to point out the absolute perversity of an account that has "critical thinker" in its bio posting an AI-generated video as if it was fact.

Shoppers at the Branson Walmart were stunned after a black bear wandered inside, picked up a can of bear spray, and accidentally sprayed it down an aisle before walking back out through the front doors. Several people were treated for coughing and irritation, and the bear was safely guided away.
