Locals just called it Red Rock. This striking red outcrop juts out into Shermans Creek in western Perry County, PA. It made the perfect swimming hole and fishing spot—deeper than most parts of the creek as it winds through the countryside.

One of very few memories I have with grandpa Bishop was playing cards with him. He would set up this tray and teach me how to play cards. I also remember him teaching me how to build crates to store apples in.

After several weekends of hard work, the stream and dam of the pond are cleaned up. I’ve got a large ash tree that needs cut up and burned, and a few pine trees. Gotta wait for better weather to do that though. It’s too dry to burn anything.
