Eye-bleach to help us deal with the news:
Another #oxfordpubreview!!
The Trout, a happy jaunt up the river Isis (Thames) all the way across Port Meadows, was doing a steak platter for two!
Steak, chips, and béarnaise sauce are among my favorite things!

An incredibly rough week of news....
Distractions: another #Oxfordpubreview
This time in Edmonton, an old haunt, the Sugarbowl near @ualberta.bsky.social
Goat cheese lamb-burger for the win.

Time for another #oxfordpubreview
But not in Oxford, and not a pub.
Big #YEG welcome to marlo tacos in old Strathcona. Been open since 2023, I think, but where were tacos like this my whole life growing up here!?
Will eat again!!

A blue cheese bacon burger on special at the Old Bookbinders in Jericho.
Super tasty, excellent fries, and a great bitter in the casks.
This place is always so warm and cozy and just lovely inside. So inviting after a chilly autumn walk up the canal.

In all my years here, I've never tried the Sunday roast offered by the Kings Arms.
Until today.
Roast was tasty, @mhairireid.bsky.social's dad was happy, cabbage was nice. Cozy place that we were lucky to find a spot in!

Another #Oxfordpubreview.
A punt up to the Victoria Arms is a dream, no matter the weather.
The food is great and they serve Butcombe Breeding ale.
The battered sausage is a work of art!

Another #Oxfordpubreview, but in London. Lunch at the Greenking-managed Marlborough Arms.
Now I know why there's so often articles decrying the fall of London nightlife..... London is hurting. The four cuts to the overcooked flatiron, the bits of root in the greens...I felt the sorrow of the chef 😂

Another #oxfordpubreview, lunch at the Head of the River. Burger was a little more cooked than I've gotten used to, but the thick patty was comforting and tasty!

Actually, a couple! Dining well with Patrick in town!
Team UofT party at the Magdalen Arms last night! I had been craving béarnaise sauce and it was delivered! Always good, and the sharing plates are always fun!

Sunday roast at the Fishes!
Everyone knows the Trout and the Perch, but the Fishes is a lesser known escape nestled along a canal and with a huge outdoor space.
The roast was excellent. Gravy, stuffing, pudd, all terrific!

Back with another #Oxfordpubreview, to the Rickety Press, my long-loved favourite place to get a bite.
In a sudden turn, burgers are coming with signature Rosemary fries,
This is the newish moo-and-blue burger with blue cheese and pickled red onions.
Delicious!!😋

Long time coming since the last #Oxfordpubreview, and today we dined at the famous Bear, a place I take all my visitors. I used to really rate their food, but all things have changed since the pandemic. No big, crystal salt flakes on top, and tartar sauce is no longer served as standard.... shame

Back with another #Oxfordpubreview.
The Royal Oak. We go because it's close, not for the food.... But the food has been starting to surprise.
Good nachos are a very difficult find in the UK, but despite eschewing traditions like salsa or guac, these were pretty tasty.

Time for another #Oxfordpubreview, another chicken sandwich but this time in #London! I had dropped into the Coqfighter by Kings Cross before, while traveling, but I can't across this one in Soho and couldn't resist. Excellent fried chicken, excellent flavor. #Chicken + #beer is perfect. #Oxford
