A digital collage made using photographs of icicles taken through a small window. The initial photograph has been somewhat skewed/stretched during editing and was taken at an odd angle in order to capture a distant tree. The icicles are hanging in multiple layers from the roofline above the window, along a passing wire, and the eaves of the neighbouring home. Mirroring and inverting the original image has created a pattern reminiscent of a sound-wave with the nearest out of focus icicles. The snow and ice on the neighbouring roof looks more like a waterfall pouring over a sharp cliff. A wire and the bare branches of the tree are a sharp, graphic black against the soft blue and white winter skies, and the sparkling opaline ice.

Northeast of Las Vegas. Jan 4, 2026, 4:15pm. Gowland 8x10 | Fujinon C 210mm f/5.6 | Delta 100 | 13 sec at f/64 | dev: ID-11 1+1 7:06 at 19.4 C | m43 scan, grain2pixel | traditional post in LR/PS. This is evidence that I carried the 8x10 to Las Vegas earlier this month. I needed to crop this a little because I was using the flm holder to shield the lens, and you can see it a bit on the right on the original neg. So this is more like a 220mm fov. I used a Stearman SP810 daylight tray for processing the film; it's really much easier than tanks. Easier than roll film, in fact. (I should do an article: "If I can do 8x10 with my crazy schedule and lack of experience, you can too...")
