The Middlesex Blue Jays, which won their GMC record seventh state title Monday with a 3-1 victory over Midland Park in the NJSIAA Group 1 title game - jumped up three places in the final Bellamy & Son Paving baseball rankings for 2025, and though they don't finish as the top-ranked team, they are the 2025 Central Jersey Sports Radio Team of the Year.

With Friday night's Cutoff Weekend high school football games all in the books, Central Jersey Sports Radio is updating the unofficial NJSIAA playoff standings as we head into Saturday action. We'll have further analysis late morning into the afternoon Saturday, with our 2025 "Playoff Projection Show" scheduled for 6 pm where we give our bracket projections. The full tournament for the public schools will be unveiled on Sunday by the NJSIAA via Gridiron New Jersey.

It was back to a sense of stability in the top half of the Week Three Bellamy & Son Paving high school football rankings, with the top six teams all staying put, and teams eight and nine moving up after wins. Undefeated Sayreville joins the fray this week, too with eleven teams ranked again for the second week in a row.

Volatility was again the name of the game early this baseball season in the Week 2 Bellamy & Son Paving Top Ten, as Ridge and Immaculata flip-flop, with the Red Devils taking over the No. 1 spot this week. Ridge (4-1) took its first loss of the season Wednesday at the hands of Immaculata, 10-4 at Diamond Nation, but then blanked the Spartans 8-0 up in Basking Ridge on Thursday.

St. Joseph-Metuchen went after Justin Hascup early on Sunday, and had the kind of success few do against the Old Bridge ace. In their Autism Awareness Challenge game - moved to Fred Cole Field after rain all weekend left the fields at North Brunswick Community Park unplayable - the Falcons scored six runs in the first two innings against Hascup, and held off an Old Bridge rally in the bottom of the seventh for a 6-3 win, their third straight.

The first time South Brunswick and Old Bridge played this year, it didn't look good for the Knights, who were held to single digits in both the first and second quarters. But like many other girls' basketball games in the Red Division this year, in the end, it was highly competitive. Old Bridge settled in at halftime, talked about their game plan, and how they hadn't quite executed it, weren't getting shots to fall.
