Currently working on building an Archivist style diy book scanner. In my research, I realized that Noisebridge in SF has one from the before times. Here's a picture I took last night ~~ it's in a hallway, covered in dust. Ready to be revived

@johl @the_lemonaut no real hackerspaces were cleaned to make this picture!

But seriously, I sent Lemon an ungodly number of references and 3D scans.

I wish the #noisebridge 3D scans were still available somewhere.

The Noisebridge hacker collectice is a really cool place with awesome community resources, events, and live music. Check it out if you're in the San Francisco area & looking for an adventure.

There is a show this Thursday, 10/23, you can check it out online as well.

I hope to see many of you at our Lit Crawl event on October 25, 2025. For SF Writers Workshop, our theme this year is "We've Got Notes for You!" Five of our current and former regulars will read their writing and tell us how workshop feedback has informed their revision process.

Try the bacon candy its delish
Was gonna say check the filmore but its pretty mainstream... the others I mentions are great smaller unique vibe venues with cool ambiance. Noisebridge is a hacker collective that has electronic/synth shows from time to time.

Wait what's shaking on shake down street this weekend?

Recs: smoke a joint at the wave organ at sunset.

Catch a show at the Great American, Warfield, The Independent, or Noisebridge.

Zazie in Cole Valley for brunch (is hard to swing sometimes) if too busy hit Bacon Bacon up the hill.

(But my specific negative experiences at noisebridge were very few — I was there exactly once, had a very weird and bad time, and never went back — so I don’t know if my vibes are reflective of broader vibes)

happens to me too. thanks, autism.

if this is about the noisebridge thing, i think in that case it's just that people are having a laugh because they have had some wild experiences there

I don’t think I necessarily disagree, but I also think “noisebridge vibes” is precisely why I refuse to log onto Mastodon, and I can’t tease out where the distinction arises.

FUUUUUCK, dude. savage. at least noisebridge had Club Mate
October 3, 2025 at 11:46 PM
Noisebridge had S tier drama too, and that was excellent entertainment from afar.
October 3, 2025 at 4:41 PM
the thing about noisebridge is that every hackspace that came after went "be excellent to one another does not work", so it's not the most fair comparison in the other direction either

*sweating with fear and panic about what she’s about to say*

I think that’s pretty unfair on noisebridge.

noisebridge has a sailorhg mural nowadays, how did you prophesy so accurately without keeping up with noisebridge for the last ten years

other than the elevator guy the one thing I remember most strongly about noisebridge is someone getting 86’d for using a printer to make “DIE TECHIE SCUM” flyers

here you go, the noisebridge elevator story

> So I closed the elevator door, locking myself in with a flashlight, & got to work. "What are the chances the elevator will have a meltdown during the one hour that I'm in here?" I asked myself (rhetorically).

thinking about the noisebridge guy who moved into the lift shaft, kicked his way out of the walls, and wrote to the mailing list to complain
