Definitely stay away from the Secret of NIMH
Absolutely not attempting NIMH erasure, and very sorry if it seems that way, though NIMH is a good springboard into that kind of space. Like, Mrs. Frisby jacking into a matrix, or Justin having a rail cannon, things of that nature. Cranking the sci-fi and cyberpunk dials hard to the right.

The children yearn for *checks notes* The Rats of Nimh.
You never see, like, a hard sci-fi Redwall. Like, this cute little stoat has a robot arm and pilots a mech the size of an office trash can.

I got into art and drawing because of 2D animation! I've always loved "The Secret of NIMH", and then pretty much anthropomorphic animals in general! I've been around fandom since 1996! I just think they're neat!

I guess I've got Magic on the mind tonight, with Oona, and...this equally important unnamed faerie.
But also Mrs. Brisby leapt to mind! Which I can't explain beyond vibes, but she feels right.

I watched the Secret of Nimh back in September. I rather liked it, though I wanted more elaboration on some things.
(I know we did have it as a kid, but I don't know how much I actually saw.)

i love this so much i keep coming back to it and how horrific it is , Ol Meg Morgenmuffel was loosely based and inspired by the legend of La Lechuza as well as the old owl from secret of nimh .

Secret of NIMH was quite specifically remade as a swords-and-sorcery epic on that micro scale. You had a BUNCH of archetypes there: The peasant girl in the middle of huge forces, the noble captain of the guard, scheming nobles, a man-eating local hazard (the cat), and a "Great Wyrm" in the Owl.

That sparked memories of my time working at the FDA and NIMH, a visceral memory of winding and unwinding the string

Been really into little guy media lately (Secret of NIMH, Once Upon a Forest, Silksong) I especially love it when everyday items are repurposed as something new for little characters (needles as swords, thimbles as cups etc.)

1997 GM (and others) were forced bt CARM rules ot attempt clean vehicles
THe EV1 was the best of them, a great vehicle hampered by its battery
Gm also bought the patents to NiMH cells form its inventor *for* cars
They sold it to an oil co who banned its use in cars
then GM crushed all the EV11

"but: the batteries suck, range is appalling & it'd cost you £35K"
"make no mistake: the days of the internal combustion engine are definitely numbered"

If you're into obscure 70s/80s animated movies that have terrifying questionable scenes, I recommend Dot and the Kangaroo as well.
I love NIMH, I love all of Don Bluth's movies, I just saw they're making a documentary!

I was thinking about NIMH which got me thinking about Don Bluth and look it is true that a lot of his movies were dark as hell and even a little traumatizing, but I actually think they were healthier in a way. Like he took care to show characters working through things, not just flashing forward

Justin had the whole package lemme tell ya. And you could tell Don put every bit of his years at Disney to work on NIMH. That was just one *DAMN* good movie, holy hecc.
But yeah, nah, yeah, Justin... And I love the way they wove Lancer theory into his plotline, and had him NOT strike the killing⤵️

Don Bluth's animation and character work on Robin and Marion in that... Makes my pan heart go pitter patter! Is it any wonder I was absolutely head over heels for Justin in Secret of NIMH?
