But bcs I don't have a "proper" mental illness (one you get to see a psychiatrist for), I'm left with GPs sticking to limited guidance that panders to the mean, irrespective of the neurovariant of the patient.
I'm "lucky" I don't have to be on them. But it also means I don't really do anything now.

#PDA might mean one thing to a lot of people, but in the #mentalhealth arena it often means #pathologicaldemandavoidance which is often experienced by #neurodivergent / #neurovariant individuals. #MentalHealthAwareness is a great time to shine a light on what that can feel like for us.
PDA / MHAPI 2025
Every year, I create prompts for poetry for Mental Health Awareness Month. This poem is for the prompt: pathological demand avoidance.

As a member of a neurovariant family with a son of the same ilk. I concur.

I'm gonna say this since some people need to hear it.
The neurovariant community does not own 1337 speak and someone not being able to read it doesn't make them ableist. 1337 speak originated in the 80s on BBS's which went out of fashion by 1996, a year before Gen Z was born.

I think it was Jeremy Andrew Davis who introduced the term "neurovariant" based on the tv series Loki. In the series, there is an established "sacred timeline" which is just a construct -in reality, there are only variants and all variants can easily be seen as equally valid...if we choose so.

How about you stop telling neurovariant people to commit suicide, ableist?
