- Viruses can infect neurogenic regions like the hippocampus , subventricular zone, hindering the differentiation & cycling ability of NPCs(Neural Progenitor Cells ). This impairs 🧠 's ability to generate new neurons ( #neurogenesis), which is a key component of adult neuroplasticity & recovery.

The use of elevated 14C post nuclear testing era to probe neurogenesis in humans remains one of my favorite seminal papers, but probably not so great for testing substances outside our sphere of knowledge. Summary :https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4046854/
(Radio)active Neurogenesis in the Human Hippocampus
Fifteen years ago, the generation of new neurons in adulthood was documented in the human hippocampus, but lingering questions have remained about the extent of this process. In this issue of Cell, Spalding et al. provide elegant evidence for ...

I learned we have a biological 'instruction manual' for rebirth (neurogenesis), and we can literally command our brains to build new realities. Has anyone here actively practiced this?

Neurogenesis vs. Neuroplasticity: A Guide to Brain Recovery
This guide to Neurogenesis vs. Neuroplasticity explains the difference and shows why "rewiring" existing circuits (plasticity) is the key to brain recovery.

Neurogenesis is the birth of new neurons. In adult humans it appears mainly in the hippocampus and likely at low, variable levels.
It may support mood and memory, but it’s not a universal repair tool.

Neurogenesis vs. Neuroplasticity: What’s the Difference and Why It Matters for Recovery
Neuroplasticity is the brain’s capacity to rewire existing circuits (synapses, networks, white matter).
It’s the main driver of functional recovery after injury and the most actionable target today.

Between Accutane, the time change and adjusting to another medication, my pyramidal neurons are going through it. *sips coffee*
I stay physically active because of the neurogenesis! 😭😭😭

Day 12: three cysts (one healing quick!) in problem areas. They are healing under hydrocolloid patches. Only one is painful. If they cause any more problems, I still have some azelaic acid to treat them with.
Yeah, I need more sleep for sure. I joke, but I feel my hippocampal cells dying.
