3D spatial transcriptomics may hold clues to future therapies for brain diseases. The technique measures gene expression from the RNA found in cells. It tells us what type of cell it is, exactly where it is, and can also indicate how a cell may interact with neighboring structures to the sides, above or below. Imaging performed with spinning disk microscopy.

The amazing dataset of neural data from freely moving monkeys was collected by Luca Bonini's team at the University of Parma, and I performed the analysis with my incredible student Elena Hillary Rondoni from the Computational Neuroengineering Lab of Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa

I'm now the parent of a college graduate. Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering (neuroengineering concentration, minor in psychology), with honors, summa cum laude. Working as a research assistant at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and applying to medical school. I feel like a slacker.
