1980 - Canadian animated film The Devil and Daniel Mouse has its first UK TV showing on BBC 1.

1975 - BBC 2, in association with 20th Century Fox, began the 6 part adaptation of Richard Llewellyn's How Green Was My Valley. Dame Siân Phillips stars.
The Devil and Daniel Mouse is a Canadian animated television special, based on the 1936 short tale The Devil and Daniel Webster by Stephen Vincent Benét. It was first broadcast in the UK on BBC 1 on 29 December 1980. Two struggling mouse folk musicians, Daniel and Jan, are fired from their latest gig because their music is deemed too old-fashioned and not with the times. While Daniel goes to pawn off his guitar, Jan declares that she would give anything to be a big star. She is approached by a shifty reptilian character in a white suit who introduces himself as BL Zebub, a record producer. Voice cast are Annabel Kershaw, Lauren Runn, Jim Henshaw, John Sebastian, Chris Wiggins, Martin Lavut and Dianne Lawrence. A Nelvana production in association with CBC. How Green Was My Valley is a 6 part television serial based on the novel by Richard Llewellyn. It was broadcast on BBC 2 from 29 December 1975 to 2 February 1976. Set in South Wales during the reign of Queen Victoria, the story of the Morgans, a coal-mining family, is told. The story centres around Huw, the youngest boy, whose academic ability enables him to consider a future away from the mines in which his father and five brothers toil. Huw has a life-changing experience after his father is trapped in a mine cave-in. The cast includes Siân Phillips, Stanley Baker, Dominic Guard, Rhys Powys, Nerys Hughes, Norman Comer, Keith Drinkel, Mike Gwilym, Sue Jones-Davies, Gareth Thomas, Sheila Ruskin, Clifford Rose, Aubrey Richards, John Clive and Ray Smith. The BBC series was co-produced by 20th Century Fox as they owned the rights to the novel.

Two-for-one honorable mention: Babar from the 1989 Nelvana series and Dumbo from the 1941 film.

Was obsessed with elephants. Nearly wore out my Dumbo VHS from re-watches at four. The Babar movie was the first film I saw in cinema.

I think some of the first real "fandom discussion" kind of thing with like speculation and rumor was about this fuckin' wobbly Nelvanamation bounty hunter.
A short essay with two screencaps for illustration: Illustration 1 is Boba Fett in the cartoon segment of the Star Wars Holiday Special animated by Nelvana, a dramatic shot from below as he wields a giant tuning-fork-looking weapon. Text: Boba Fett first appeared in the animated segment of the Star Wars Holiday Special. Many fans lauded the cartoon as being the only good part of the special. While George Lucas did not create Boba Fett specifically for the holiday special, his resulting popularity likely cemented Lucas's choice to include him in The Empire Strikes Back. Illustration 2 is Grogu standing plainly with his head slightly tilted in curiosity perhaps, in some sort of natural environment with trees and rocks and things. Text: Without the Star Wars Holiday Special, Boba Fett may not have made it to the big screen. Without Boba Fett, fans would have no interest in Mandalorians. Without interest in Mandalorians, there would be no Mandalorian TV show. Without the Mandalorian TV show, there would be no Grogu. Be thankful for the Star Wars Holiday Special.

Summary: The Rani (Nelvana) and the Master (Yaz!Master) partnership, one meant for mutual benefits (The Rani: an unkillable test subject, The Master: access to a working TARDIS), has begun to evolve into something marked by complications. The Rani does not like it. Character(s): The Rani (Nelvana), The Master (Yaz!Master), The Rani's TARDIS. It's not a end. It's a beginning. The day aboard the Rani's TARDIS begins like any other in the console room. The Rani is imputing data from an experiment into her TARDIS' data banks for future reference. She focuses on it and nothing else, everything is secondary, so it is no surprise the Master strolls in unnoticed and, typical of her manner for this incarnation whose likeness is one of the Doctor's former pets, comes to a stop right behind the renegade scientist with inches between them. The Master reaches round and touches the Rani's hand. The Rani flinches at the Master's open flaunting of boundaries. The Master muses aloud how much character her hands have, fingers daring to slide perfectly between the Rani's rough knuckles. The Rani can't help but notice how strangely soft the Master's hand is, nothing how she would expect them to be for someone she finds abrasive at the best of times, but the thought is quickly lost to the feeling of loathing and disgust swelling in size at her core. Today it bursts violently. The Rani recoils, shoving the Master away, who stumbles back, almost looses her balance and yet in the end finds her footing with the ease one would expect of a cat. "Out," She hisses with a soft touch of Russian. The Master knows full well what the Rani means and for a split-second rejections takes the place of her usually cocksure manner. The Rani does not see this, eyes screwed up tight and refusing to turn away from the consoles to even risk looking at them, hands clenched tight, nails digging into the palms so hard they threaten to draw blood.

I was 13/14 at the time, and while I had my fair share of Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z up to that point, it was this anime on Toonami that made me a fan.

However, it was the awful Nelvana dub that they titled 'Cardcaptors', not the original 'Cardcaptor Sakura'.
