Into final edits for my new book Dressing the Queen and thinking of the many many hands whose skills contributed to royal wardrobes past. Embroiderers at the Royal School of Needlwork such as Ruby Essam, Rosina Smith, designer Nellie Wichelo. Thinking of them today #RCT #RSN #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

It's a Sajou kit I found among my mother's things. I assume she bought it without realising quite how tiny the stitches would be (and she wasn't nearly as determined [bloody-minded] when it came to cruel and unusual needlwork as I am). Her wedding ring and engagement ring live in there now.
