Not nrf52 as main focus, but there is miceobit v2 version.

But it does not use any external components like in esp32, pico. Most of the exercises with internal components what microbit capable of

This is a fantastic resource! I had a break in my tinkering with MCUs but this got me my groove back 😃 And I finally got to do something with the ESP32 boards, which I've been thinking about for a while. I know there is an RP Pico version, but also an nRF52 would be a good idea, I suppose.

Not much red hot Git action this week, but this caught my eye:

Unfortunately after pouring over the schematic, the only way to insert a voltage before the charge circuit is via the USB-C connector. The 3.3V pin is software switchable output for external devices (LED's), and the VDD pad leads directly to the chip itself (for reprogramming a bricked unit). Ok. 🤷

With my "shenanigans" I was able to source 10x nRF52 boards for C$32 (paid C$26), 10x IMU boards for C$87 (paid $72), 10x LiPo batteries for C$14, and the recommended PC host dongle (HolyIOT) for C$19.

~C$112 for tracker parts, or C$11 each (i.e. $8 USD). So case aside, yes I beat my ~C$45 goal. 🎉

So as you do, I ordered the parts from AliExpress and moved on with my life (i.e. shipped from China). I planned to build the cheapest 1:1 copy of the SMOL SLIME tracker from AliExpress, so I sourced 10 of each part including the same IMU, though it was cheaper to buy a larger 180 mAh battery vs 120

Well, I was now aware there was a new SlimeVR project based on these nice!nano clone boards: smol slime! They feature a Nordic semiconductor nRF52 family 64MHz ARM microcontroller w/ support for a custom low power 2.4GHz wireless protocol (not WiFi like the ESP variant). Also they can charge a LiPo!

I spent the evening soldering pin headers onto modules. 🤓

I did several ESP32's (S3, C3, C6, H2), WCH RISC-V boards, an nRF52 (nice!nano clone), and I also assembled a single "smol Slime" (AKA a SlimeVR tracker)... though I couldn't find my stash of buttons/switches, so I improvised for testing. 😅

I have stones to throw at all the major vendors, honestly, it's not specifically NXP and STMicro. Even Nordic, who is usually really great, doesn't put warnings in their main datasheet for things like "hey actually this whole functionality doesn't work" (like XIP via QSPI on the nrf52 family)

I was thinking it would be a fun project to replicate this [1] cute tide clock. Fell down a rabbit hole because I knew practically nothing about embedded devices or electronics. A day later, I now know all about MAX7219 controlled LED matrices and the various merits of nrf52/stm32/esp32 SOCs and […]

While not as power efficient as the nRF52, it's still considerably more so than the ESP32, and felt like a great compromise for an all-purpose node with all the feature creep I wanted to let in. And it's tiny! The total size comes out to just barely 60*40mm, about 30% smaller than a credit card.
