A long-standing favourite I've had to replace countless times over the years as it's been 'borrowed' so often. One I urge as many folks as possible to read.

Next on my reading list.

It's all well and good talking about exploring the shadow; it's quite another to proactively shine a light in its darker, more troubling corners. No one said this path of coming to consciousness would be easy.

If the above quote sounds familiar, it's because Daryl Sharp creatively weaves several of Jung's more memorable passages into story form, thus providing a gentle introduction for newbies, and a helpful refresher for those already acquainted with his works.

If we surrendered
to earth's intelligence
we could rise up rooted, like trees.

Instead we entangle ourselves
in knots of our own making
and struggle, lonely and confused.

One of the first books I read after first being introduced to Jungian psychology, and one I often return to. A favourite.

It helps to know when we embark on the psychospiritual path of personal transformation, that others have gone there before us. This is where the old stories and myths can light the way. Liz Greene and Juliet Sharman-Burke's book, 'The Mythic Journey' is one such guiding light.

THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING!

King Charles III died in my dream last night. The death of a king is a big deal in the Jungian world view; a 'conscious dominant' in the psyche is no more. Check out D. Stephenson Bond's excellent, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘢𝘭 to learn more.

Q: A Voyage Around The Queen by Craig Brown.
My husband bought this for me and I bumped it up to the top of my reading list. As the dust jacket says, "Brown seems to have invented a wholly new biographical form." A wonderfully fun read.

We live today in a time of confusion and disintegration. Everything is in the melting pot. As is usual in such circumstances, unconscious contents thrust forward to the very borders of consciousness for the purpose of compensating the crisis in which it finds itself.

Working with the Shadow is not working with evil, per se. It is working toward the possible greater wholeness. We will never experience healing until we can come to love our unlovable places, for they, too, ask love of us.

After all, life is not even close to being as logically consistent as our worries; it has many more unexpected ideas and many more facets than we do.
