#multipolarity
yeah gonna take a lot to convince me that multipolarity will be worse than this

Another outstanding contribution to our series on unsettling geopolitics in an era of climate crisis and warmaking. @mona-ali.bsky.social goes global and granular to tease out the causes and consquences of weaponizing trade and the potentials of multipolarity.
The US and China have agreed to a one-year truce in their trade war. What lies behind this conflict and what does it mean for the world economy?

Read @mona-ali.bsky.social on Washington’s assault on global trade and the alliances emerging in response.

the bear case for multipolarity is that the US probably gets to keep doing most of this (worst stuff we're trying is in our "sphere of influence") and that the worst country on every continent gets to be Russia/Israel

Multipolarity equals fascist conquest and colonialism for venture capital-aligned billionaires, all feeding back to modern pharaohs and kings. its neofeudal fascism and colonialism and nothing less.

same =_= although, i think we're going to see the US go from unchallenged hegemony to one of many players. the dream of multipolarity is upon us

Read @emmamashford.bsky.social on the Trump administration’s strategy for multipolarity—and why it will make the country a “less competitive and less capable global actor” in a multipolar world:

The multipolar world only has three leaders, and the world will be split between them: China, Russia, and the United States and while the claims of multipolarity are that its all countries forthemselves, dugin and bannon both openly belive multiplarity is actually cover for a return to imperialism
November 3, 2025 at 2:38 PM
For many of us in the academic and research side of countering the far right, this is why we have been so adamant about Duginist multipolarity and why we tried to explain its links to Evola-style fascism and nazis like Bannon. This is what they have been planning for decades to carve up the world

I don't disagree.

The issue is that multipolarity sucks, and nobody wants to pay to take up the crown.
November 3, 2025 at 4:16 PM
I dont think for a lot of these it will be a question of polarity/multipolarity. The US set these systems up, they had benefits, theyll simply go away or become localized
November 3, 2025 at 4:20 PM
A person I really hate on here made an incredulous post about multipolarity and ended it with (paraphrased) 'You think China or Russia or the Gulf states would be better?????' and it's like- the US actively supports and props up one of those!

"what did you think "multipolarity" meant? memes? white papers?"
"If there were adults in the room and I could trust the federal government to impose the right standards, it wouldn't be such a great concern, but it just doesn't seem feasible."
Trump Administration Providing Weapons Grade Plutonium to Sam Altman
The White House is providing plutonium to Sam Altman's Oklo, one of four US companies chosen to test experimental reactor designs.

Watch this and listen carefully.

Singapore PM on the change in the global order given the US is no longer the insurer of stability - a sentiment that will go beyond the current administration. But nobody else has stepped in building a foundation of multipolarity amid turbulence.

Just saw sometime trying to argue that multipolarity is decolonization 🤮

Multipolarity is associated with *higher* levels of colonization, because you have multiple factions vying against each other for resources.

Multipolarity is just a return to great power rivalry.

We need true internationalism — all of humanity working together towards shared goals.

To a degree, I think "multipolarity" contrast with the idea of eternal American hegemony was always inevitable, but there was no way it was going to go the way Russian puppet Eurasianists wanted lol lmao.

As someone who tends to think multipolarity is a good idea and that hegemonic unipolarity is wildly unstable, I find myself in the strange boat of occasionally shrugging at what's happening at DoD.

It's just that it's this group of yahoos and peronists doing it, so it probably all deserves concern.

Considering the world wars were arguably the result of multipolarity, and most of the people pushing multipolarity are tankies taking money from anti-western dictatorships, I generally don't think it's a great idea.
