Reason for Israel wasn't the Holocaust, that's only the most recent. Modern reason began 1492- Spain expelled all Jews & burnt the rest, creation of ghettos throughout Europe for refugees when they didn't kill them 1500-1800s. Not allowed in many cities mid19thC. Finally Russian pograms into 1920s.
