Take the following with a grain of salt: I created a channel point redeem on Twitch for lurkers to make themselves known and my active viewers shot up to where they’d normally be. This leads me to believe that lurker views aren’t being counted to combat botted views.

Yeah lurkers scare me tbh. A side effect of the Prestige is significantly fewer lurkers. 10/10 will prestige again.

90% of people in a community are lurkers. A small fraction actually engages & builds community. Only a very small fraction actually produces anything original & relevant. These tools are reducing the nominal price of entry to more prestigious tiers. But prestige cannot be won so cheaply.

90% of people in a community are lurkers. A small fraction actually engages & builds community. Only a very small fraction actually produces anything original & relevant. These tools are reducing the nominal price of entry to more prestigious tiers. But prestige cannot be won so cheaply.
The people submitting hate are either lurkers or people who haven’t been here long enough. Also going to assume very bored people. And shows they really wanted attention. #bbmidnightsecret

It bears spreading the word every so often; Twitch has a lot of systems in place to discount lurkers, a case of good intentions gone wrong maybe, but regardless of motivation...

There's some obvious things going on with how Twitch counts viewers now but going on social media declaring "My channel is dying because Twitch doesn't count lurkers as viewers anymore :(" is not only patently false but you are 100% making people feel bad for lurking your channel now.
