“Hey. Kiss me.”
Chûya still holding his liquor enough to speak in coherent words wasn’t a surprise, not when that wasn’t the first time Kunikida and him shared some drinks. The content formed by said words, though, was a different story.
“What?” He couldn’t help but ask, as if to check his hearing wasn’t betraying him.
“C’mon, gimme a kiss.” And to further emphasize such a request, Chûya also slid over their seat to get even closer to him, so close their thighs were touching and Kunikida could almost feel his breath. Then, when utter shock prevented him from offering a proper response, the redhead apparently chose to bring in the big guns no less. “Please…?” He then said, pleading with the sweetest expression.
Still, Kunikida didn’t budge.
“You’re drunk.” Maybe Chûya’s speech was still intact, but his reasoning sure wasn’t, right? Plus, even in the case he was being for real and that was something he would want even sober, it wouldn’t be happening anyway.

Not until making sure that was the case, at least. Otherwise, it wouldn’t feel right in the slightest.
“Pfft, it’s just a kiss.” Well, yes. But, at the same time, no.
Were Kunikida to give in and kiss him, it wouldn’t just be a simple kiss, not when it could be denying Chûya the experience in a moment when he wasn’t at risk of having forgotten by next morning in the best case scenario, and taking advantage of him while drunk in the worst. Therefore, he couldn’t do it.
But, since leaving him empty handed didn’t sit right with him either, Kunikida did at least offer a compromise.
“If you remember this tomorrow, and still want it, you’ll have your kiss.” He ended up replying, serious as one could be and putting a hand on Chûya’s as if to seal the deal as well. “Promise.”
“Can work with that.” What’s what he got as a response, accompanied by a smirk.

know you don’t like me for her.” They told Anne, once Lucy was way out of earshot; saying those words out loud and to the doll no less felt strange enough, but if Lucy actually heard it, Gin might even try to hide their head underground like an ostrich.

Anne may not be able to speak, and they were by no means as able to read her as the room’s owner, but that didn’t mean her judgement wasn’t noticeable. It could be because she was being obvious as one could be, or due to how being at their most expressive was something Gin too reserved for those the closest to them and the common ground facilitated some sort of communication. The point was, there was no doubt. Besides, Anne could still nod, and she swiftly went on to confirm Gin’s words with one.

“I know. I shouldn’t want this, but…” But hanging out with Lucy, who likely had figured out their former ties to the mafia and didn’t seem to care, was one of the few respites Gin had found after--

After everything that had happened.

After they had pushed Ryûnosuke away, knife in hand, and not so long after their execution had gotten postponed just because was now dead, and his plans followed him to the grave.

“I don’t want to lose this.” Gin then admitted, after a deep sigh born from both their reminiscing and gathering the courage to say those words too. After all, for all they knew, Anne might tell everything to Lucy even if she wasn’t there to hear it, or perhaps she could hear anything Anne did or… well, too late for second-guessing, right? “And I’m determined to treat her right. I mean, she’s my first friend in so many years, so…”

There was no need to keep wondering, because either Lucy had managed to hear it all or gotten back there in order to at least witness the last part.

“You won’t.” The redhead said, basically launching herself towards Gin and pulling them into a tight hug they instantly reciprocated to, hungry for that kind of affection after so damn long.

Having Lucy there, beside them and chatting about everything and nothing at the same time, still felt like a dream.
So it was being at the cafe in the same building as the Agency’s office without risking being thrown out the window by that farmer boy, but Gin found that way less typically dreamy than sharing space and a conversation with a beautiful girl. Because, of course, it was way less typically dreamy.
Especially since said girl was also braiding their hair as she spoke.
“Anyway, you should’ve seen his face. He looked legit terrified, not kidding.” Lucy said, giggling.
“Like the first time he saw me at home.” Gin replied in a whisper; no one else but her needed to hear it, after all. “Fair, since it was late as hell and I entered without making any sound.”

Still, they found it amusing how Atsushi with his feline hearing had gotten startled upon seeing them. And Gin was also proud, since that was quite the testament in favor of their own skill in terms of stealth-- not like there was any doubt about it, though, given how they had years of experience and had trained under someone incredibly good. Gin could have in fact gloated further about it, weren’t the two of them in a public setting where anyone could hear it very easily, but Lucy needed no details.
Also, Lucy’s break was coming to an end, and they would rather focus on that.
“Well, time’s almost up.” She even announced, tying up Gin’s braid once it was finished using one of the million ribbons she always carried, and taking an extra moment to caress one of the loose strands in their hair. “If you’re working when I get out or so, see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow, yes.” Before Lucy could motion to stand up, Gin used the last second before truly having to separate to press a soft kiss on the tip of the girl’s nose, which was met with a giggle of delight.

Lucy bursted into laughter.
Lucy bursted into laughter and Gin couldn’t help but follow suit barely one minute after, since she wasn’t stopping and her laugh was contagious.
She laughed harder, they laughed harder, and it was just a matter of time until both were breathless; breathless and still giggling every now and then while stopping for air at intervals. At least until locking eyes with each other a brief second, when they started again-- or rather, kept on laughing with intensity.

“C’mon, it wasn’t that good.” Lucy said, despite the joke that had kickstarted it all being hers (yes, she had been the first one cackling at her own words), and Gin replied by sticking their tongue out at her.
As if he didn’t agree, when it was true: it hadn’t been about the joke as much as it had been about the effect of Lucy’s laugh.
Gin was already ‘retreating’ when Lucy chose to lean in instead and kiss her, clearly and completely taking advantage of the fact that acting fast would mean catching them still with his mouth half-open and therefore very much ready. Not like Gin minded, though, but quite the opposite: the kiss was welcome, and such a ‘trick’ was something she had done a bunch of times too.
In fact, it almost seemed like such an attempt at a comeuppance challenged him, who went on to return the kiss energetically.

“There, Kunikida-kun!” As an Agency member, Dazai shouldn’t technically be speaking to him so casually, given how with Fukuzawa out, he was now the president. As his partner, though, he was being very much proper.
And Kunikida wasn’t up to chastising him when Dazai was 1) actually using the crutch Yosano had given him and 2) handing out a finished report on his desk.
“Thanks.” He would have to take a proper look at it, but a brief skimming through the pages revealed everything pretty much in order. “No one has any problem out there, right?” Had hell broken loose through the main offices, he would have heard it, but just in case. Besides, there was one more thing Kunikida wanted to tell Dazai. “Also, have you eaten lunch already?”
Dazai’s answer, though, was another question.

“Have you, my dearest president?” Well… He couldn’t lie there, nor did he want to either. Not to him.
“I’m planning to go in five minutes. I’ve been busy.”
“Mhmm.” Dazai replied, as if he didn’t believe him, or was up to something. Or both; with him, it could easily be both. “Then I’m waiting for you. And I haven’t gotten anything since breakfast, so I hope it’s exactly five minutes.”
So: there it was. Not like Kunikida intended to complain about such a tactic, if anything, he couldn’t help but smile.
“Alright, I promise.”
“Nice! See you in five, then, my liege.” Using his free hand, Dazai then took Kunikida’s hand in his, leaving a dramatic but also affectionate kiss over its palm and making him laugh a little.
