Came across this small boulder, smothered by longleaf pine needles and sprouting tropical life that adds a green and purple splash of color in the brown and dull green scene.

I have time for a long hike today. After taking Longleaf Pine, new campaign objectives are connecting to the large fields over Deland. This is made difficult by the vast amount of empty land between them and my portals. I have three routes to choose from today to work toward this

Look! A planet! We could travel there through a wormhole. I predict that there are longleaf pine trees there.

🪶Nick Spigler's photo of a leaf-footed bug took 3rd in the "other wildlife" category of our photo contest. Nick worked on our bird monitoring crew at Fort Bragg in NC, which is home to some of the largest remnants of the endangered longleaf pine ecosystem and the bird community associated with it.

I swear to God Chuck Leavell if you do this episode of your show on Georgia without mentioning longleaf pine or the fact that we have 31 species of oak in this state I will send you an angry letter with pictures of Sherman's Fox Squirrels.

Longleaf Lo-Fi by Muscadine Bloodline

A surprise second album of 2025! This duo is ready to take over country music and, despite constant touring and recording, they show no signs of fatigue.

With each release, their songwriting improves. But the standout is Clairvoyant, a pop-punk ballad cover.

We deserve biking and walking trails in rural America. Lots of people here love our Longleaf Trace in South Mississippi.

It really sucks that something that's so beneficial for mental and physical health for everyone has been turned into a such a partisan issue.

2)What finally worked was discussing how 400 critters depend on gopher tortoises in a fire & that they were interconnected with the Longleaf Pine Wiregrass ecosystem & the whole thing would collapse without gopher tortoises. He only listened again & again because he really liked me.

After retaking the portals in Longleaf Pine today, my next objective will be linking with these fields in Deland. I will attempt it directly, off trail from Longleaf Pine.

This is known as a Longleaf Pine
It can live for over 200 years
Although it is small, this tree has been growing underground
So it's older than it appears.

"After the 'virgin' longleaf forest was clearcut, the land was transformed into timber plantations densely packed with loblolly & slash pine, planted so closely together that I can’t see any light between the trunks. Here, trees are a cash crop—sold for lumber or pulp or utility poles."
The carefully-tended longleaf pine forests of North America were plundered by European colonizers. They're still recovering.

Walking Pioneer was awful. Not much to walk on between the road and the flooded woods. Lots of weeds with burrs that tore up my lower ankles. But I reached Longleaf Pine. Now the fun part is next.
