#kinect
The Series S-first strategy was as big a disaster as the Kinect. That $400 digital-only PS5 absolutely cooked it.

Microsoft held a company social for computer vision engineers. They said it was a chance to Kinect

The Kinect is good because Apple bought it and shrunk it into the Face ID camera, which is what created vtubers
There is a genius to this image that cannot be explained in words. I can't stop laughing.

I’ve seen at least 5 different interactive exhibits that were kinect powered now. Glad someone managed to do something with it

ive been binging vinny’s commercial chaos and the tonal whiplash from regular 90s ad to kinect ad that was so cringe it interrupted vinny mid-sentence is such a highlight

Microsoft unveiled Kinect in 2010, pitching it as a revolutionary new gaming device. Kinect turned out to be revolutionary, just not for gaming. This is the story of how a bunch of hackers turned Kinect into a game changer for robotics and lots more www.theverge.com/tech/812803/...
How a bunch of hackers freed the Kinect from the Xbox
A brief history with an unlikely legacy.

I'm convinced that Xbox today would be in a different place if Kinect had never become a thing. This was the point when things started to go off the rails.

Strangely, NO silly Wii games (mildly tempted by Deadly Creatures for a fiver)

My haul was a Yoshi bookmark, Kinect Sports, Fable The Journey and a loose Sonic Adventure Dreamcast disk all for £15. I ain't about that expensive retro life.
Going to the London Gaming Market - expecting to window shop, gasp at prices and leave with a silly cheap Wii game.

I always think about fan reaction to the Star Wars kinect dancing game as my first sign of how allergic to fun that fanbase is.

'Sonic Free Riders' was released on the Xbox 360 Kinect 15 years ago today in the US.

Yeah, and it's been true even before the rise of tech (see MSG hate). All the big and powerful countries behave the same, it's just about how it's packaged and accomplished. Everyone talks about China's facial recognition surveillance, but nobody mentions how the US did the same through Xbox Kinect.

Yes to this: Games that try to take their environment and audience into consideration, and being respectful of players' time

I think this was a big issue in early Kinect times, the space and physical nature of dancing/moving around too

Kinect was hilarious in retrospect fr

Is 15 years enough for "Kinect was an impressive piece of tech, and the Star Wars dancing game is very funny, and that's a good thing" not to be a hot take?
