#jargon
If you're an academic talking to a non-academic audience, the goodwill you build by either not using jargon, or explaining any jargon you do use, is incalculable.

Correct use of jargon is about gatekeeping. But you're not here to show your credentials, you're here to engage with other people.

Rep. Massie is spreading this claim now. Will be interesting to see what happens.

A hallmark of fake news is often very specific meaningless scientific jargon or number. 94% match on something utterly meaningless! but people fall for it.

"Beneath the jargon and negotiating and court proceedings is the human right to eat—and the people who are having that right threatened (by Trump & his GOP lapdogs in Cong)."

Speaking of powerful reporting this from @marisakabas.bsky.social who spoke to 20 SNAP recipients from 16 diff. states.
The voices of SNAP
Recipients have become political pawns. They explained, in their own words, what Trump withholding funds has been like.

This is not immigration enforcement. Stop justifying their actions by using their jargon. They're kidnapping people.

I periodically rewatch this clip. How he uses jargon, but explains it each time. Particularly his focus on HOW the evidence leads to a conclusion. Seems to give a good model for science, that it is the interpretation that matters, not the "evidence". youtu.be/G8cbIWMv0rI?...

Arguing that political trends are not affected by lived material experiences is an extraordinary claim that needs more than just a bunch of graphs and data science jargon.

In Succession, I think I've whittled down precisely the thing about Kendall that, no matter what he's going through, I simply despise him: He ONLY speaks in weird jargon and (usually profoundly shallow) metaphors. OMG I fuckin hate it

#emoetry #nauseated

I eat
I eat a lot
I love it
My love is all consuming
That's what we are all meant to do
Be a user who consumes
Or be consumed
It's not just food
It's idiom
Jargon, phrases and expressions
I cannot eat enough
I am in the lolly shop
Always room for one more wafer
Never nauseated

Can't stand passive journalism. I'm reading Andrew Sheer attacking the Libs over floor crossings, uttering all this convenient high ground jargon and it's simply reported. This is the same clown who gleefully plucked a Lib MP in 2018, his hypocrisy now STAGGERING. No mention in any piece. #cdnpoli
