✈️ @JamesFallows you write like a pilot charts a course… steady altitude, sudden turbulence of truth, always landing w/ clarity. Been following since long before Substack took off. A rare North Star in journalism skies.

Killing People Through Corruption: More Examples from Aviation by @JamesFallows open.substack.com/pub/fallows/...
Dangerous and corrupt:
-Starlink for the FAA
-Defunding NOAA and the National Weather Service
-Ongoing cuts at the FAA

They use private jets.
Killing People Through Corruption: More Examples from Aviation.
Some of the assault on governing institutions comes from ignorance and zeal. Some is just corrupt. Together this will lead to deaths. Here's why.

#JamesFallows‬ News accounts of this (not @atrupar.com) need to point out that Trump's claim is LIKE HORSE MEDICINE FOR COVID. The water he "opened up" goes NOWHERE NEAR LA. Rain has brought LA fires under control.
This water is stored for dry summertime and IS NOW WASTED.
Trump: "I opened up the water for California. It's a great thing. It's too bad they didn't do it themselves. I had to do it and it was not easy. We did it a very rough way. And I didn't like to do it a rough way, we shouldn't have to do it a rough way."

The degree to which the @nytimes avoids even mentioning the role of #climatechange in one unprecedented disaster after another is inexplicable (calling @jamesfallows). And delays the public awareness and political will needed to address future disasters. messaging-custom-newsletters.nytimes.com

An Unlucky President, and a Lucky Man
In the years I worked for him, Jimmy Carter was always the same: disciplined, funny, enormously intelligent, and deeply spiritual.
