Dems are very proud of themselves for their “savvy” willingness to tell their base to simmer down and let the experts work. What they don’t seem to understand is the intangible, but very real, damage that does to the enthusiasm of their voters, who feel abandoned. And then the “experts” fail!
The Dem base wants the shutdown to continue because it’s the only time we’ve felt like our electeds were representing us: trying to squeeze the GOP instead of squeezing us to accept concessions; directing their anger at the Republicans instead of at their own voters for wanting them to resist

While some #Habs players have posted disappointing numbers to date, it's hard to measure the intangible contributions they may be making on the bench, in the room, at practice, etc. Don't want to mess too much with success

Work slowly and with intention. Savor the process, cherish the results - both tangible and intangible. Create a thing you can see and touch.

I've thought about this before, I think it's because intelligence is intangible and not directly observable. You can easier make the case that actually just general financial and social success is a proxy for it and you get a kind of circular self-legitimisation of the status quo.

A lot of people talking about the Mamdani election and the nationwide Dem victories last week. I have to point out an intangible emotional connection.
I think the feeling that people had on election night when Mamdani won was extremely similar to the first 2ish weeks of Kamala's Presidential run.

There are plenty of concrete good things that will happen because of winning these elections, but the intangible might even be bigger. Trump is going to issue a lot of illegal orders in the coming months and years. Nights like tonight might determine whether those orders get followed.

there is a massive amount of intangible value that humans add to society that *cannot be expressed clearly in words* and that AI is not going to replicate, and the AI antis are right about this, they're just wrong about what that means for the AI

Brexit did huge economic damage. People can argue about the exact figures but it’s unarguable that Brexit made 🇬🇧 poorer than it would have been, not richer.
Now it’s becoming clear that it also failed on the intangible “but it‘s about more than mere economics” level.

Voting is in practice an intangible thing and it'd results are largely immaterial to me, because we need to build dual power regardless of who wins an election.
