People have been moving out of CA for a long time - to retire to places with mor favorable income taxes or to access better public education options for their kids. This is nothing new.

Massachusetts implemented some sort of extra income tax for rich folks, lots of people said rich folks would leave, tax revenues so far don't look like they left. Hope it works as well for California.

I'm talking about opening up new mutual aid networks in places they maybe don't exist.

And a good mutual aid network would help everyone. Gatekeeping aid is part of the problem in this country, be it income, race, religion, drug usage, children, whatever.

If people need help, they should get it.

You should try posting something like "all wealth, income, and assets in excess of $100,00,00.00 should be taxed at 100% - if you can get that much, well hooray for you, but you don't need to hoard anymore, and you can't spend it all, so let's flush that excess money back into circulation." 😁

well not anymore you can't, guys from California have been buying up all our houses and land, then renting them out or turning them into tax break tree farms. They sure as hell won't be moving here themselves, even after we finish getting rid of our income tax!

Looking at election forecasts, its clear that underlying economic factors play a huge role in swaying voter decisions, particuarly unemployment rates and income growth, which can make or break a candidates chances of winning.

I had the same this feels fake reaction the first time I learned GDP growth doesn’t equal income growth. That disconnect is what pushed me to learn investing in the first place.

I'm happy to have some disposable income this Christmas season, I've been able to spoil some of my SWer friends because they deserve it 🙌 I wish I could afford a gift or a tip for everyone 🥹

digitally might improve my workflow. Also, I'm on a fairly fixed income, so I don't have a ton of money to invest in high end equipment.

I'd appreciate any feedback people might have.

And embrace a future where I’m expected to spend 25% of my income on clothing? Never!
79) My desire for passing clashing with my fashion sensibilities. Help me out, cis guys, embrace high heels and embroidery once again, this is what Louis XIV would’ve wanted

My Dad, a CPA in California, said the only thing he didn’t enjoy about his tax practice was having to explain to his wealthiest clients again and again that where they live is irrelevant: if they generate income sourced in California, they have to pay taxes here.

That always shut them up.

That's why this is known as the "buy, borrow, die" strategy: You buy or otherwise acquire lots of stocks, borrow against those stocks for anything you want to spend money on, then eventually die and use estate shenanigans to avoid paying income tax on what you spent.

got my CD burner at the exact moment enough people got theirs for it not to be an income generating asset. it's my fault, I didn't pitch it to my dad right.

If you have clean running water in your home you are better off than 25% of the world's population. A homeless American living out of their car likely owns assets that puts them in the top 50% of global wealth.

Looking just at the US, median household income is $83K. That's a low bar for poor IMO.

There is a lot of doom for lower income Americans and folks in some industries.

You think taxes on income over $100,000 and property taxes are hitting the poor?
