Heated Rivalry is 2025’s surprise to everyone. Love, sex, emotions, all wrapped in a hockey show with the most heartwarming bow. * * * Starring Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, François Arnaud, Robbie G.K., and others, this show delivers goosebumps…. whenever a guy says “I love you” to his boyfriend, it is heartfelt and impassioned. Viewers who don’t have hockey pucks as hearts will melt. And yes, I’m jumping straight into what the show is actually about. Hockey is their workplace. The true story? Two couples discovering their attraction and actually getting comfortable and happy about it. It’s very rare to see queer successful and happy couples on TV, and that’s one of the reasons this show went platinum. Yes, I get the complaints, it’s “too sexual”. Get over yourself. In the first two episodes, Shane and Illia are basically two teenagers acting up on their attraction. No complaints here, it’s one of the most honest episodes and scenes about gay sex. No, you’re not going to “see” everything, and that’s a good thing. We’re not watching porn, we’re watching a romance blossom. However, and credits to Rachel Reid who wrote the original books this series is based on, Scott and Kipp deliver a different kind of story. While Shane and Illia are “equal” in their careers, and that creates a push/pull tension amazing for a series, Scott and Kipp will make your heart melt in episode 3, and the follow ups around the season end. Everyone deserves a Scott and/or a Kipp! However, I want to talk a bit on how I connected with the show. And yes, I was live posting during the finale on my BlueSky account. The reason that Heated Rivalry went popular was, yes, the sex. But the reason the show went platinum has more to do with the fact that too many queer men resonate with their story. I don’t play hockey professionally, but I definitely saw myself in their story (minus the hot sex) Heated Rivalry – Official Trailer ##### Should You Watch It? Season one of Heated Rivalry isn’t just one of the most emotionally satisfying queer romances in recent television; it’s a testament to what happens when creators trust queer stories to be tender, complicated, and unapologetically sincere.
