well but the built-in icemaker

I have a big LG French door guy with in-door icemaker that's doing well after about 12 years. The freezer and drawers are space inefficient – we long ago removed the crispers in favor of "vegholes" – but I have *no* notes on it mechanically.

Have had a Kenmore for about 13 years. No repairs have been needed, but all the plastic parts (e.g. butter compartment, outside handles, icemaker) are so cheap and flimsy--I'm amazed we made it this far without breaking any of it. I expect that's true for almost everything on the market, though.

Finally, I did find some new ice trays on the cabinet that have plastic lids on them and are not cracked and they also have silicone bottoms and I have two trades and this is excellent for my ice making needs this year because until I go to the mall and find another icemaker I’m not gonna get one at

Look at Waterdrop.

Ours is 7 years old, still working like new and cartridge replacement is the easiest - no tools.

Add a water storage tank if you need better flow or have an icemaker to attach to the system.

So this is a little bit until the spring or until Christmas. I’m putting the icemaker on my Christmas. Wish list if I get one I will have one for the Christmas and the New Year’s. If not, I will buy one.

OK, my ice machine my icemaker finally bit the dust by Frigidaire. It’s dead. I have been running it nonstop for the past two years it has proven to be a very good icemaker. I only had to clean it once using vinegar, but it’s dead now so my new experiment is can I lose more weight by not having ice

Pero no tienen icemaker creo. Yo en Price agarré una torre de lavado Samsung en ₡500k menos que en la tienda de Oxígeno.

#ThrowbackThursday to the time when I bought a countertop icemaker because the fridge one broke (during Covid). Meadow and BlackJack became obsessed with it, and they wouldn't leave it alone. Anyone else have a cat with a small appliance fetish?

The Fridge Door Icemaker Spat A Cube On The Floor And Nobody Kicked It Under The Fridge
November 12, 2025 at 1:40 AM
From my freezer -the bin for the ice maker. I noticed the ice tasted funny a few years ago and stopped using it.

This is one of the reasons a new fridge will be delivered tomorrow. That and the half roll of packing tape holding assorted parts together.

The shitty thing is, if you don't want an icemaker, fridges are remarkably easy to construct so that the bits are accessible for cleaning/service. They should last at least 10 years without service, but theoretically, like a car, can easily last 50+ years

But all the gizmos make it soooo fucked

I installed an icemaker in my fireplace, and it puts out a non-insignificant amount of heat.

That's fun. I think if I lived in Australia, I'd have a big icemaker that only ran during free time, dumping the ice into an unplugged freezer (for insulation) ... when it gets hot later in the afternoon, open the freezer door and turn on the circulation fans.

Talking Objects 32 - Refrigerator
That's right! I never said I'd stop doing these once October ended. That said, I'm obviously not doing these every day anymore, but if the urge strikes (like today) I'll do one now and then. Can you guess where the icemaker is?

The joy I feel when the icemaker is full enough in the morning for everyone's water bottles is ridiculous.

*sigh*

I bought my countertop ice maker ages ago to increase my water intake.

My roommate found out he liked my filtered water ice more than his tap cubes from the freezer.

Now, nearly every day, I get up, start the icemaker, then he manages to come out at exactly the right moment to take it all.

Only feature I need (well strongly want) in my fridge is an icemaker. Could not care less about a TV screen that's prolly spying on me and now wants to sell me shit.

May all their shoes have a teensy little rock in them that is there no matter how often they shake them out. May their ice cube trays always be empty in the freezer and the icemaker leaking oil into the ice. May their headlights always be burnt out when they must drive at night. Bad cess to them!

My mom's shopping for a new fridge and finding that most of the big-name brands gatekeep at least one important function behind internet connectivity (like using the icemaker)

It's a fucking refrigerator! It doesn't need to hack IPs! It needs to keep my food cold!

We have a standalone GE icemaker that makes the “good ice”. When I say it’s probably my favorite appliance.

I had a geyser come out in the middle of a tongue and groove hardwood floor. Turns out the last owner shoved the icemaker line down in the floor…and the valve fell off.
