The website is now up for one of my two favourite meetings – the biannual International Conference on Social Dilemmas. Abstracts due 22 December.

(My other favourite is @ehbea.bsky.social, but I often miss both these years. @ic2s2.bsky.social also rocks.)

By coincidence, my Computational Story Lab research partner, working on LLM issues, is one Julia Z. She just got her PhD and has just started as a post-doc at the Vermont Complex Systems Institute.

I will be ordering your book today.

This is an exciting topic, pioneered by the PopNet team (led by @franktakes.bsky.social and Eelke Heemskerk) and Statistics Netherlands (Jan van der Laan and Edwin de Jonge's poster at the #IC2S2 conference in 2019 is where we got the idea).

A nice discovery today: #ic2s2 keynotes are on Youtube! In particular, I think the papers listed by @lauraknelson.bsky.social in her keynote could form a great list for a CSS reading group.

Another unforgettable summer!
I was glad to present some of my recent work on "the impact of LLMs in society" at ACL (*3+1), IC2S2 (*2), ESRA, Youth in HD, and ICSSI.

Here are the papers and posters:

It felt like 90% of all work at @ic2s2.bsky.social was on LLMs 😅. It was a great conference! @marckeuschnigg.bsky.social do you have numbers to substitute that perception?

Frauke and Munich (www.lmu.de/ai-hub/en/) is certainly one factor here. In Mannheim, it’s the group around @mstrohm.bsky.social. I was not at @ic2s2.bsky.social last month but I heard that it was more or less the one dominant topic there - not surprising.

yes it is, but de facto true. just came back from #ic2s2 , one of the main forums for scisci, and I can confirm this is still the case. in putting together the @euroscisci.bsky.social , we've been aiming at a more inclusive definition of the science of science

I had a wonderful time at IC2S2 this year. Lovely city, incisive conversations. Many thanks to the hosts. Until next year!
Day 2 Keynotes kicked off with Laura Nelson's inspiring presentation, “Why Qualitative Research Needs Computational Social Science”. What is the state of this maturing field called qualitative computational methods? What are the ongoing debates and futures? #ic2s2

Back from #ic2s2 which was again a fantastic conference experience - congrats to the organizers! Some professors got a poster this time, which was actually super fun to design and present - haven't done it since my 1st year of PhD 16 years ago 👴

My first time at @ic2s2.bsky.social is one I won't forget 💫

I gave three parallel talks (🤯) and each of them led to insightful conversations with brilliant researchers from around the world.

This conference exceeded my expectations. The computational social science community is fantastic 🫶
