This year I’ve continued to explore the 20x20km map centred on my home, taking inspiration from “Local” by @alastairhumphreys.bsky.social

I retraced paths well trod in 2024 & found new places to explore.

All while keeping it local in keeping with @thegreenrunners.bsky.social #HowWeMove pillar.

Heavy rain didn't dampen the mood at our Nottingham local meet-up this morning with Caren, Jon & Kev visiting Bestwood Village #parkrun. 🌳

Our trio travelled sustainably by foot, train & tram. #HowWeMove

They enjoyed a 5k run 🏃‍♀️ around the country park followed by a warming cuppa in the café. ☕️

Coast 2 Coast the green way 💪🏻💚

Devon Coast 2 Coast - I completed my mini-adventure today by running from Barnstaple to Croyde along the coastal footpath.

A mostly flat 25km run along the old railway line & around the windy wilds of Braunton Burrows before hitting the north coast.

Time for a quick paddle before bus & train home.

3/3 - Damian co-founded The Green Runners to inspire action through running.

From kit to fuel, he moves with purpose (& speed).

We’re incredibly proud of his achievement, and even prouder that he did it while flying the 🟢 badge.

Send us a DM if you have a story to share.

1/3 - This week, we’re swapping our usual badge bimble for a big cheer for our co-founder Damian Hall @ultradamo.bsky.social 💚

Damian won the 2025 Lakeland 100. 100 miles, 6,300m of climb, and probably several brews 🗻

That’s a one big bimble! 💪🏻

Walk or run, Slow Ways are a great way to explore your neighbourhood.

And with train stations in Exeter & Totnes, this one would be make a fine point to point long run…

#Totnes to #Exeter on five great #SlowWays yesterday!

All using the @slowwaysuk.bsky.social app following routes shared and checked by volunteers. Loved it! ❤️

Long adventurous runs using public transport are our cup of tea!

#HowWeMove
Well, I've run the Capital Ring and have largely finished the London Loop, so maybe this is the next challenge!
Long, adventurous runs using public transport are the best.....

This is one for Green Runners living in the SE of England.

Looking for a new running challenge with easy access using public transport?

Look no further than the London Spiral.

PS Ultra runners please note, there’s no Thames crossing between crossing at Dartford and Purfleet.

OK walking friends! I was asked to share a map for my #BigWalkAroundLondon #NationalParkCity so, here it is!

Let me know if you set out to do it! I'd love to hear about that.

Taking the train to and from a running event is a great way to reduce our impact on the climate, while letting the train take the strain.

Love that organisers are making it easier for people to do this. Kudos to The Way Of The Runner.

Hey @thegreenrunners.bsky.social

Took my badge out on a Dartmoor bimble yesterday organised by The Way Of The Runner @adharanand.bsky.social.

Route started at Okehampton & ended at Ivybridge railway stations. Myself & others therefore able to keep travel emissions low.

First hour sucked, second hour was lovely. My plan this year is to incorporate paths near me that I don't usually use or have never been used before. Will track on an OS paper map which ones I've done to monitor when planning more routes. Inspo by Alastair Humphreys @thegreenrunners.bsky.social
Long run day. Not feeling up for it but it has to be done.

Great example of how to apply our #HowWeMove pillar.
My Devon & Cornwall railcard makes for great value travel from home. Yesterday was a good example.

Train to Exmouth, a 24km run including along the SW coast path, train back from Lympstone.

Mixing it up on my long runs while leaving the car at home.

Pillar one: How We Move

Have you considered cycling to a race? 🚴

Cycling to a local race can be an effective warm up & cool down.

With many places having cycle sharing schemes, it’s getting easier to travel sustainably to events.

Anyone cycling to the London Marathon?

I’ve discussed this with our volunteer who manages our Facebook group.

Members can post questions & requests on the Facebook group, including requests for car shares.

We’ll mention this today in our Facebook #HowWeMove post.
