As I head out to join our #RCNavy sailors at HMCS CATARAQUI in Kingston for #RemembranceDay services, I will be also be honouring my Grandfather, Canadian Armoured Corps 1944-45 & my son & daughter-in-law, currently serving RCAF. Three generations of service, we all trained at CFB Borden.

The St John’s dockyard, owned by the Newfoundland Railway Corp, worked 7 days a week from 1940-45 and recorded no less than 1,312 ships repaired and upgraded over that time. Ships with torpedo, collision or weather damage were a common sight in harbour.
