It's later every day. Still nice, when it arrives.

#GoodMorning #Bonjour

I was super tired last night.
A city appt., so I dug up & moved Fruit Trees to justify the drive: Apple, Apricot, Cherry, Haskap, High Bush Blueberry & Nectarine. I ran out of light. Finishing now.
I was waiting for #Dawn.

We've had rain for at least part of the day everyday since last Friday, with plenty of wind

And it's been getting progressively colder

All that to say, I'm not sure how many #yellowThursday opportunities are left this year

Going big this week, just in case

Just made a sweet little trip to Montreal to see a lovely friend passing through from the US. 💚 @glitter-femme.bsky.social We came across some fun street art in Mile End. And discovered that Fairmount Bagel is now selling haskap-rubbed salmon which is totally delicious! I love this place.

Day 28 #SciArtSeptember prompt harvest. 🧪🐡 Echoing my print of insects for Manufactured Ecosystems about the future of pollination this print is intended to drive home how much we are dependent on insect pollinators. These are many of the food crops we grow here in Ontario which benefit from 🧵

party pregame beings with a delicious haskap mint julep — I didn’t even know that honeysuckle berries were edible

Stage 1 of another gardening project is nearly complete

It was a slog

I fought against invasive vines, stubborn roots and tough trunks

I broke tools and dulled blades

It's taken two months and I still need to weed and edge the bed

But once I stepped back from planting? A bee came

Dinner at my favourite Yukon restaurant: Bonton & Co. An appie, three small plates and a big piece of cake for two We each had two cocktails and a glass of wine. Had a few leftovers! Bill: $197.00 before tip, so $100 each. Superb food featuring as many local ingredients as they can get/use. #food 🍜

A little while back we got a point of haskap berry sorbet and I am totally converted to Team Haskap Berry, where have these things been all my life

We have to pick them ahead of the birds, we can net some and those still growing in 5 gallon buckets, I just set in the greenhouse away from the birds until they finish producing berries. We eat them in cereals, jams, pies, even in salads.

Is it a day of getting random overdue shit done? Perhaps. But it's also a day of my aunt delivering a haskap rhubarb crisp, which means bonus dessert night.

Also looked at replacing the Purity apple partridge berry jam that I finished at breakfast yesterday but went with a Nova Scotian Haskap preserve.

If you find yourself in Swan River MB sometime you can pick those haskap berries for free at the farm tended by Craig and Carol Larson.

Oh no, I’m growing haskap now, so I’m probably doomed if I don’t cover them. I did plant for the birds, so I’m not being stingy- I saw the waxwings harvesting serviceberry and hawthorn, which I planted a lot of.
