Hanging around

More than 2 weeks since fledging and this youngster is still hanging around. Great to see it down at Hackney Marshes.

Very sad to see misinformation being spread about successful habitat restoration efforts on #HackneyMarshes.

This was NOT a mitigation scheme and did not reintroduce species that were forcibly removed from this area.

Hiding away!

With the leaves unfurling it makes finding the kingfishers a bit harder but spotted this male on the River Lea this afternoon.

Missed getting it on camera but just after this shot, the male dived caught a fish and took it to his partner in Middlesex Filter Beds.

So we now have 2 confirmed pairs on the River Lea.

ll kicking off down on the Marshes! 2 males fighting over a nest site. It’s really close to an established nest, so I’m not sure if it’s not wanting neighbours or about needing a new nest or? #kingfisher #kingfishers #eastlondon #kingfisherphotography #birdphotography #hackney #hackneymarshes

Lots of sightings of both male and female kingfishers on the Lea this morning, including this perch which both used within a few mins of each other.

Spring growth

Male kingfisher down on Hackney Marshes this morning sat amongst new leaves in the warm sunshine.

I think he has a partner as he was interacting with a female just before this.

Wrestling kingfishers

Having plunged out of the tree (see earlier video), this pair of male kingfishers ended up on the banks of the River Lea, rather than in the water.
